Under seat storage

Foam got here a couple days ago. Cut it to fit the area yesterday while I was bored at work. Just used scissors...worked fine. Got to working on the rest of it this morning. Used 1/2” as the base, and 1” as the storage. My underseat isn’t as tall as I thought, so I’m glad I went thinner. Didn’t remember to take many pics as I went, but the end result should be enough.

Here was the first attempt. Plan was to overlap two mags using this design.

But the seat wouldn’t close down with two mags. There’s a lip that end of the foam is sitting on. (I ended up only cutting about a 1” strip the length of the 12x36 piece for it to fit, so I glued it underneath the base piece as a support going up to the lip). So I went back to Plan B.

Found a spot in the back of the foam to add another mag standing on its side, since it’s actually behind the seat when it’s closed. Cut the end off the piece I cut out for mags and glued it back in place. Ended up with this:

It’s always easier when you have good help.

Another pic in sun with loaded mags.

Everything fits and the seat lowers.

I used a hot glue gun to attach the two pieces. Seemed to work fine. I did end up using a razor blade to cut out the additional mag spot since I’d already glue the halves together.

Overall, I’m satisfied. That’s 151 rounds of 40gr V-Max, suppressed. I did find I had a 20rd pmag here and it’s about the length of the grip, so it worked well. The ammo is fed from the top, and the brass shoots out the factory magwell. I removed the base, spring and follower, and had to cut the top portion of the mag that extends past the top of the lower receiver. The 20 rounder just gives me another grip point and provides a better chute for the brass to fly out of.
That really is nice and slick.

And that 5.7 is quiet to be supersonic

My buddy said you are the kid with the cool toys lol

Now, coming from working in the car stereo industry, I would get some black fabric and some strip Velcro. Id run a strip against the floor near the back of the cab, and then another strip on the front part of that foam, where you cant see it. Then put the other half of Velcro sewn on the fabric. Velcro the rectangular cover to the rear, stretch tight and tuck/Velcro in the front. covers the rifle, looks like a false floor or just carpet. . You would still have quick access, and a burgler
still wouldn't see it with a flashlight looking quickly for something to steal.

Just making sure...you know it’s completely covered with the seat down. When you say “looking quickly”, they’d have to open the truck, and know that the seats lift up.

But, it’s not a bad idea. I could even skip the Velcro and tuck the fabric under both ends. Possibly glue it to the foam on the back side, and tuck it in the front.

I was figuring if they broke the window out and looked under there. Or, you know, the police officer you give consent to search . hahahahahaha
