Last year i stumbled on to a new in box, with box and papers, etc, unfired Universal M1 Carbine.....Its a Redux. High serial number but made special order for Law Enforcement use. Not fully compatible with GI parts like the US marked Redux editions but has the single spring slide without hole, button hold open, GI Gas piston and nut, etc.

Shot it a few times, runs great out of the box and after a good cleaning and proper application of grease, runs greater than great.

Shimmed the rear tang to keep the action slightly tensioned and unmoving since I scoped it. Inexpensive little 3x9 Bushnell on weaver side mounts. Nicely repeatable when reinstalling the scope after plinking with the irons.

Went out and established the hunting zero with some ammo today. Dead on at 25 yards and equally dead on at 100 for this lil pill. Should be a fine deer gun at close range this fall. Sure is a joy to carry and its already on house hold duty here at the Owls Nest.

A sweet 85 round off hand session today at 25 yards on the 3" steel swingers. Slayed em all!

A couple things i find just silly.

1. An American war (war style i spose since its a Universal) weapon and the inexpensive and reliable plinking and home defense ammo is one in the same, TulAmmo Polymer Coated steel at $12 for 50 rounds.......(yep, i bought 1200 rounds!).

2. The hunting ammo I chose, and hoped it'd be the house duty ammo too was Horneydays Critical Defense. Mostly it runs good, plenty accurate too. But, it'll short stroke occasionally! Go figger, over a buck a shot and I'm thinking mebby I'll pull the critical defense bullets and seat them in TulAmmo Cases!

I think this little fella needs to be with me all the time!!!!!

Nope. (in case yer thinkin it)......I NEVER feel bad about shooting the stuffing out of a collectable gun! That plus, I snagged this one arond $300ish off gunbroker. Sometimes folks don't do their research!

Gotta love those little M1 carbines...light & handy little guns! Now we just need to see a pic or two of yours.

I've got an Inland that I bought from CMP forever ago and she doesn't see as much range time as she should.

I lucked into a Universal low serial number several years ago, and still love it . Those things are handy and fun, and I don't ruin a collectors piece !! Enjoy yours !!!

Im real pleased with it. They are like garands and mini's too....need grease in the right spaces and they run and run. Lots of folks run the old designs dry and complain they dont work.

Anybody that runs the old ones dry doesn’t deserve them, and should pass them on to people that know better !! “URL” or “OYUL” is our friend !!!

Yep, the old designs and the copies of old designs (mini's, etc) I hold to the lube.....if it slides grease it and if it rolls, oil it. Of the one or two "possible" bent op rods in the history of civilian use of the M1 garand, both were likely bent due to lack of lube and not super weakness of the weapon, nor the super hot modern 3006 that is designed specifically to break stuff! (there, that oughta get folks yackin!:rolleyes::confused:

Here is the photos ya'll wanted. Looks like any Universal but Lil Bit is mine. I named it Lil Bit. I think it needs a Fairborn to go with it but the maple and solingen steel looks kina nifty and is a bit more compact than a Fairborn...i spose the maple will do fine.
