However he did say based upon the symptoms and progression to this point he feels it is going to be one of the least aggressive with a highly successful prognosis not requiring aggressive treatments.

Hate to hear the “c” word, but it sounds as though it is treatable.

Chin up and a positive attitude…the only option is “cured”.👍

God’s in the miracle business….expect them.

Prayers up…I’ll fire one topside for yall daily.

Last but not least, lean on folks here. Best group of people anywhere. Without their encouragement, I would not be where I am today.

It has been several weeks since I gave an update on my son. First, thank you so much for your prayers and support! I do not know how to describe how much the support from everyone meant to me. The pathologist report confirmed it was cancer. Physically he is doing well, and the doctors are very optimistic with their prognosis. Emotionally he is struggling a little. As if being 23 years old and diagnosed with cancer isn't bad enough. The Air Force has taken him out of flight training for at least 5 years. After 5 years he can go before the medical review board and request a waiver. Flying is all he has ever wanted and busted butt to achieve his dream. He is not sure if they are going to medically discharge him completely yet or let him stay and assign him to work somewhere else until the 5 years are up. What's odd, he was less than 2 months away from having his wings. Had he earned his wings, he would have only been grounded for 6 months. Not sure why they have such a huge difference between pilot and trainee when they have already invested so much money into him. He had a full ride through 4 years of college, was paid a stipend each month, made it through basic aviation, SERE training, and was less than 2 months away from finishing instrument rating and multi-engine, which would have earned him his wings. We talked the other night for a long time. I told him that God has a path for us and sometimes we stray off course, but God has ways to get us back on his path. While we may not know the purpose now, God does have a purpose for him, and these difficult times are meant to make him a stronger and better man than he was before. By the time we finished our talk, he told me that one way or another he was going to fly again. And if it wasn't meant to be in the Air Force, then he would do it as a civilian (rascal is a little stubborn). Air Force or not, I know he is going to be alright and that is the most important thing to this dad!

I'm just seeing this thread for the first time. I read it all...

He's stubborn and that's a good thing. God willing, his stubbornness will pay off.

If not, God will point him in the right direction.

I'm praying for y'all! You are a good dad. Keep doing what you are doing.

Not good news but your boy is young and will get thru this as tough as it is. Emotionally you guys will help him thru this and with the grace of the Lord he will get his wings and fulfill his dream. Send my best regards to your son and keep us updated.

Thanks for the update. Sounds like your son has his head on straight and has an excellent attitude.
