I am not clear of what I read that you shouldn't use lead rounds in Glocks. I have a Glock 44 and have a lot of these CCI lead round nose.

Am I to assume that if I keep the barrel clean after each use that it should be safe to use ?

Yeah, doesn't say anything about using/not using lead rounds and they assume that ammunition contains lead from this statement in the manual:

CAUTION! Most ammunition contains lead in the projectile and/or primer. Discharging firearms in poorly ventilated areas, cleaning firearms, or handling ammunition may result in exposure to lead and other substances known to cause birth defects, reproductive harm, and other serious physical injury. Have adequate ventilation at all times. Always wash hands thoroughly after exposure.

Check with @Geezer. he is the Glock EXPERT. I would trust his advice more than Glock Customer Service.

"Interestingly, the pistol has polygonal rifling, which historically doesn’t play nice with non-jacketed rounds.

That said, Glock said it ran tests into the thousands of rounds with a wide variety of ammunition without a hitch."

Found this from an article when the 44 first came out.

No issues with the G44. I run the junk Federal bulk ammo in mine about all of the time. I'm trying to shoot it up so I can switch over to my Mini Mags. Not sure if I'll live long enough to shoot up all the Federal that I have.

I have shot a lot of @Butter 's coated lead bullets through my Glocks without any leading problems. I've never shot any lead bullets that were not coated, though.

An Honest Question...

Why do Glocks have Polygonal Rifling?

I have never heard that they are more accurate, or safer, or that they last longer, or that they have less friction... but mebbe I missed sumpin'.

I blast away with whatever I have on hand. I have found that mine really likes CCI Blazer, CCI standard and mini mags. I’ve had some issues with Remington Thunderbolt with FTF. Reminds me I need to give [mention]NKD [/mention] the remainder of the Thunderbolts. I kid I kid, inside joke. I wouldn’t do that to you Dave![emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]

Glock isn’t the only one that uses polygonal rifling, can’t remember the others off the top of my head. In armor school, I’ve been told by some Glock reps polygonal rifling is shallower and creates a better gas seal. Which gives some small increases in velocity.

I ran some plain lead 45acp through a Glock I owned for a short time. Barrel started leading up after 25-30 rounds. Only times that has happened before in any gun running low velocity was when the barrel diameter and bullet diameter didn’t match well. I’m thinking that was my problem more than the construction of the barrel. Coated lead in the same gun caused no leading problems but was not very accurate either which makes me point to diameters not matching well.

the CCI standard velocity ammo is subsonic and lovely for suppressed fire, although some pistols dont cycle reliably with it when unsuppressed. I have no experience with the G44 but have heard that it likes hotter ammo so not sure the CCI std velocity will be a good choice. Let us know thanks.

I've got approximately 3000 rounds through my G-44, and have shot all types of 22 through it, with no issues. I will say, it loves Blazer's and if you can believe it, Remington Golden Bullets. I do actually clean this one though after every two range trips.
