Hi friends. I recently picked up a used USP45C from one of our members. I knew I wanted to pick up a GGG rail adapter and add a weapon light to it, but I couldn't decide which light to go with. I looked online but there weren't many pics of USP45Cs with lights mounted, and I couldn't find a single pic of a USP45C with an Inforce APL light mounted.

I knew I liked the look of the APLc, so I went ahead and took a chance, hoping that it would ride comfortably on the rail adapter and fit close enough for the thumb of my non firing hand to manipulate the paddle controls.

Now that I can happily report that it fits perfectly, i'd like to post some pics so that others might see them; just in case they find themselves looking for a nice light for a USP compact in the future. Thanks for looking!

nice!

glad you grabbed that!

did you already have the threaded barrel? don't remember seeing that

I got the barrel after picking up the USPc. I ordered it from RIM Country Manufacturing. I also purchased a threaded barrel from them for my full size USP. They make great aftermarket HK parts.

I also added the Talon grips. I love them and put them on all of my plastic guns.

Next, I will install the official Match Grade Trigger kit from HKparts and it will be complete. I'm making this my new official concealed carry gun. It'll be my first ccw with a light and I'm excited about that.

Next, I knew I would need a kydex IWB holster for my new carry gun. I looked all over the internet but no one was making light bearing holsters for a setup like this (old gun / rail adapter / new light). But, after searching the forums, I found that we have a member who makes custom kydex holsters. Let me introduce you to @rantingredneck .

I PM'd Tom and told him what I wanted, and he invited me over to his workshop in the community of Eli Whitney, about 17 miles north of Pittsboro. And, of course, he told me to bring my USP45C for fitting.

Tom, whom I'd never met before, welcomed me with a handshake into his work shop. He then opened a drawer revealing about 30 kydex sheets in many colors and patterns. After a minute of looking, I chose ODGreen with a carbon fiber pattern.

I handed Tom my pistol and he carefully checked to make sure it was clear and then reinserted the empty magazine (to give the frame more support when pressing the kydex around the pistol).

I could immediately tell that Tom had a lot of practice making holsters. He wrapped my pistol in blue painter's tape to protect the finish, taped on a tall piece of balsa wood to create a channel for a suppressor height front sight, and a couple of other small blocks of wood to help with the holster forming process.

I'll also point out that his shop was not filled with homemade holster making equipment. He had a professional press, made for forming kydex holsters for pistols, knives, etc. Tom also had a drill press, band saw, belt sander, grinding wheel, and heat gun that he used in this process.

I arrived at 6pm with a pistol case and left at 7pm with a custom holster that I could not be happier with. During that hour, Tom asked me many questions about the holster while making it exactly the way I wanted. And, about 5 different times he handed me the holster and let me grip and draw the gun, check for burs, try it on my belt, adjust the cant, etc.; each time taking it back to make time modifications until it was perfect for my hands and body.

This is a level of service that you will never get from any online holster retailer. And the price I paid Tom was half the price I would have had to pay AlienGear, BladeTech, Vedder, for a generic (one size fits most people) holster.

Tom makes holsters for knives, guns, and whatever else you may need at his shop. He can be reached on our forum by PM, and he will invite you to his shop on evenings and weekends (by appointment only) to make the perfect holster, just for you.

Thanks again @rantingredneck . It won't be long before I'm back for another custom holster!

Here are a few pics:
