USPSA PVC props, stake them down?

Myself, @NKD & @Slappy McTrigger made some USPSA props from 3/4" PVC.
For those of you who build PVC props, what do you use to stake them down?

Landscaping spikes?

What size hole do you drill in the PVC so it's not weakened to the point of cracking at the hole?
