The Navy Hymn-
Eternal Father, strong to save
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave
Who biddest the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea
O Christ! Whose voice the waters heard
And hushed their raging at Thy Word
Who walked on the foaming deep
And calm amidst its rage didst sleep
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea
Most Holy Spirit! Who didst brood
Upon the chaos dark and rude
And bid its angry tumult cease
And give, for wild confusion, peace
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea
O Trinity of love and power
Our family shield in dangers hour
From rock and tempest, fire and foe
Protect us wheresoever we go
Thus evermore shall rise to Thee
Glad hymns of praise from land and sea
-Willian Whiting 1860

Lots of theories as to what happened still. Crazy how there's no "black box" just the audio (which doesn't have any flooding sounds at 1000 ft.)

SUBSAFE is an awesome program.

Too bad it took such a tragedy for it to come into being.

If I hadnā€™t liked the Army, subs was my next choice! Iā€™ve always loved them.

We sang this at my father's funeral (and we sang it at about 15 funerals I have been to with comrades dying in Iraq/Astan). Also, and you probably know this, traditionally the last song sung in Sunday services at Navy chapels.

I no likee the underwater boats. I did lock-in/lock-out stuff in the Bahamas and North Sea in them, that was enough for me. I respect any man who chooses sub life.

Me too, God bless those who choose to stay under water.
