Including NC.

Lying POS claims all kinds of folks can get permits in these states that can't even legally buy guns. Morons.

Looks like I'm vacationing somewhere else this year. Was headed to Williamsburg again. Shame, one of the birthplaces of our nation being under these twits.

"Attorney General Mark Herring, a Democrat, said the state will revoke its reciprocity agreement with the states because their concealed weapon laws don't meet Virginia's standards. Those states hand out permits to people who are barred under the Virginia law, like fugitives, convicted stalkers and drug dealers, which undermines the state's law and puts residents at risk, he said."

They're trying to really make sure no one carries firearms into the capitol on Monday.

This government is completely off the rails, they've pretty much used the nuclear option, and aren't going to stop.

Virginia's new gun rules / laws;

Article 10. The inhabitants of the United Mexican States are entitled to have arms of any kind in their possession for their protection and legitimate defense, except such as are expressly forbidden by law, or which the nation may reserve for the exclusive use of the army, navy, or national guard; but they may not carry arms within inhabited places without complying with police regulations.

Like illegals coming to the 3 Sanctuary counties in Virginia?

Virginia

Arlington County
Chesterfield County
Fairfax County

This is from 2015. The R's (who are no different from the D's, according to some on here) passed a law at the time overriding him. Now that the D's (who are no different than the R's, according to some on here) are in control, we'll probably lose reciprocity again. Only this time, even if we don't lose it, we will have all the "assault weapon" and magazine restrictions.

This new bill that was introduced on Jan. 6, 2020, HB 569, will reverse the current law. Virginia is being attacked on all fronts. I will be following this closely so stay tuned for updated on this bill.

Here is the bill’s summary:

Out-of-state concealed handgun permits; reciprocity.

https://www.usacarry.com/new-bill-could-kill-virginias-ccw-reciprocity/

Does NC currently comply with these two requirements?

Reinstates the prior law providing that the holder of an out-of-state concealed handgun permit who is at least 21 years of age is authorized to carry a concealed handgun in Virginia if the other state (i) has a 24-hour-a-day means of verification of the validity of the permits issued in that state and (ii) has requirements and qualifications that are adequate to prevent possession of a permit by persons who would be denied a permit in Virginia.

So to re-cap this thread: Title isn't true, this story happened 4 years ago and never went into effect. A new and similar bill is filed, but pushed to committee ten days ago when it was introduced and some how, this is old story is making the rounds on facebook and gun forums. I don't know if this kind of thing is just started by people on our side trying to rile things up, or anti-gun people trying to spread false information (to discourage people from carrying/showing up at all to the rally on Monday), but either way people on our side are perpetuating the problem and making their tactics effective.

Either my way I am covered I have Non resident VA permit. ;)

I think both sides are pushing stuff out to get people all worked up. By dividing the population they control the population. Getting everyone’s panties in a wad over a hot button issue allows them the sneak shit through under the radar. Both sides are guilty of this.

Im covered by the 2nd amendment too

Here I was ready to cancel my three hour drive today to spend some money in Farmville VA.

I recall when this happened four years ago, and was quickly reversed. Guess I better go while I can, before they effectively “close the borders” to free people.

What you buying in Farmville? Wife’s family lives in that area.

Have your lawyer use that argument in court if this ever passes and report back how that works out for you.
It’s like you don’t even know us.

The store is Greenfront. They occupy about half the town in retail square footage.

No, it's much more simple (and depressing) than that. The vast majority of folks on social media are sloppy and mindless clickers. They see a headline shared by someone else. The headline scares them, so they share it to everyone who follows them. If at least two people perpetuate this pattern, the madness persists and grows. It's why I deleted all of my social media accounts last year and haven't missed them in the least.

Most people are easily spun up and intellectually lazy.

Dang it. I hate it when that happens. What I get for just reading the article and not the date line. GRRRR In my defense, it does seem entirely possible this week. lol

I guess you didn't see it, yes VA reciprocity is under attack and the info is here;

Ergo, the reason for my previous post. Anybody know?

So they will only recognize 5 states when this goes into effect ... Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah and West Virginia. Only WV is a border state and the next state at least 350-400 miles away and the other 3 western states so I’d not expect the number visitors with CHP’s they accept to drop big time ... VA has radar detector detectors so now wonder if they’ll really look for out of state vehicles of CHP holders to gig us? I have relatives (ones I actually like) in Mecklenburg Co VA ... between Clarksville and Boydton ... I actually do Ike to visit. That is Sheriff Hawkins area who is Pro-2A and I’d not worry to much about his department trapping out of staters but I remember how bad the VA State Troopers are to out of staters for picky traffic crap. It will be interesting to see if stories of Troopers fishing in VA starts popping up. I can just see some VA Trooper running every NC plate he gets behind to see if it had a CHP holder flag and if so pulling for whatever reason he can find. Grab the popcorn people ...
