Visa Mastercard Pause Reporting

I was getting ready to cancel my Discover Card because of their decision to pursue this non-sense. The same day I ordered an American Express. Then I read an article that said that Amex, Mastercard, and Visa were already starting to do it. I like to get stuff on line and I hope they either loose a lot of business or come to their senses.

The problem I see is that most of the LGS do not carry what I need. I have to go online and use a card. I just ordered bullets and last week some brass. Same goes with dies and everything else. Not sure on how broad they will sweep their net on this?

This has been discussed adnauseum. They are tracking how much you spent, when you spent it and where you spent it. These stores that deal primarily in firearms and ammunition were previously coded as sporting goods stores, now they will be coded as gun and ammo stores. That is once the actual stores get around to changing their code, which they’ll try to avoid doing.

Before this change they (the man, or the credit card company) knew when you spent $500 at Bob’s gun emporium that you were most likely buying a gun or ammo even though it was coded as sporting goods store. The change creates opportunities to abuse retail gun stores, but in terms of tracking your purchases it’s really nothing new.

I saw an interview with the woman who is apparently behind the push for this. She said the banks have become hesitant because they’ve been threatened with loss of significant business. Not the loss of our credit card business but loss of big business from companies and government agencies that oppose it.

I don't believe them. They are probably just quieting the dissent while they build an entire database of gun, gun parts, and ammo purchases. They will quietly make this data available to all of the 3 letter agencies that we know will never abuse it. LOL.

Why should we believe they are not moving forward with this? They are all run by gun and Constitution hating woketards.

What gov't agency would oppose it?

I could see maybe a small company opposing it and actually doing something. But any large corporation would just say, "well that sucks, insert your card when the screen lights up".

It's not like a major retailer, especially online, is going to stop taking credit cards

Various state attorneys general have opposed it and threatened lawsuits.

Good! If cc companies tried to report the purchase of anything else, they would get intense backlash. Why should gun ownership (a right we are promised as Americans) be any different.
(a right we are promised as Americans)

...a God given right that every American is born with that our Constitution prevents our government from infringing upon.

There. Fixed that for you.

"Pausing"? That reminds me of all the corporations I have worked for the have 'anonymous' esat surveys, the notifications of which are sent to you in an email with a link. Then a week later you receive a notice that you have not submitted your anonymous survey results. I will admit to having serious trust issues but really? I have gone to prepaid credit cards paid for in cash from the grocery store now for online purchases and the only thing i use my bank card for is gas and taking out untrackable cash.
Hmm, Have I reached curmudgeon status yet? Its no wonder I prefer to live in the remote mountains instead of Raleigh.
