I am itching to stretch the RPR in .338 Lapua Magnum out beyond the 400 yard limit of my range. The best I've done is .61 MOA but it was gratifying when it came at 400 yards. Just for comparison, an extra large egg at 500 yards is roughly .33 MOA. Load development isn't complete yet (I'm waiting on some mandrels from 21st Century) so I'll just have to run with where it stands now.

.61 MOA @ 400.jpg

Range Buddy exaggerates the truth a bit. Calipers don't lie.

Hey everyone, We are new to this forum and late to this party. I just found this event and it has interested me enough to ask some questions.
-I am thinking about going and bringing my daughter, she is 9 and very interested in learning the sport, but I am nervous to bring her to an indoor range, too many yahoos. Would there be a space where we could take our time and I could teach her? or is she even allowed to the range at this point?

-Is there ammo for sale up there or do I have to bring my own?

Thats it for now Thanks

You need to spin around a dozen times before shooting to be fair to the rest of us.

I cant answer anything except put in my two cents about the yahoos.
This is a CFF only event. As such, it will be self policed and no yahooness will be tolerated.
The forum get togethers I have been to have always been like this and I would not hesitate to bring my 10 year old to one.

Thats great, I just hope she's old enough for the range!! Thanks

Grayman, bring her and she will have FUN!!!!
Nothing like a CFF event. I wish I could make it but have kids and grand-kids coming in for the weekend.
If ButtonPusher is there he will have some 22s.

I am sure Frank will let you know if she can attend,
you are welcome to try any of my .22 pistols and rifles including suppressor if you like and anything else I bring. The RONI SBR.
I have plenty of .22lr ammo, no need to bring yours.

He won’t be the only one. ;)

Semi-auto pistols, revolver, semi-auto rifle, bolt rifles...all suppressed except the revolver.

Don't worry. I've been assured by someone who is an authority in long distance shooting that the nut that holds the trigger is about a half turn from falling onto the ground.

I've searched the schematic and don't see anything labeled trigger nut. I've taken it apart as much as I dare and don't see anything that could vaguely be described as a trigger nut. I've even shaken it as hard as you can shake a 15 pound rifle and don't hear anything loose rattling.

Half the reason I'm going is in the hopes that someone smarter than me can figure out where that dang thing is. I'd hate to have to send it back to Ruger for something that sounds so simple.

Maybe they’re talking about the nut behind the trigger. :p

Why does this keep happening?! I am teaching that day.

Good grief! I dreamed that, after retirement, I would have more time to play. What a myth!!!

Does anyone want to shoot a flintlock? I'd be happy to let a handful of folks take a shot. I have right and left hand rifles both.

Never shot a flint lock. That would be a real treat Tim. Thanks for the offer.

I'm looking forward to putting screen names to faces, making new friends and enjoying a great day on a great range. See you soon @VOD Tactical

Hey, if anyone is going to the shoot from the Triangle area, we're trying to get a relay set up to transfer a shotgun. @BigWaylon offered to take it from the shoot to the buyer. Now we just need a relay to the shoot from the Raleigh area. Hit me up via PM if you can help. Thanks!!!

Ordered ammo yesterday that should arrive mid weeks so I can have plenty of chances to miss

I just loaded 50 more rounds to get final dope from 1-400 this weekend. Then I will zero my turrets.

Next week will see me at the bench for quite a spell loading up all that empty brass.

I'm ready to go for 700!

:)

To our host @VOD Tactical and Instigator in Chief @Butter, it's been mentioned bring targets if we can. Anything else?

One week from tomorrow and I only see 9 RSVPs. What's up with this crowd?

Maybe something on the website banner would bring 'em out of the woodwork.

They're probably all sunshine Patriots waiting until a few days before when the weather forecast will be more reliable.

I have plenty of USPSA style targets Im bringing and some 9mm that failed case gauge to burn up in the demo bay

@Gray @jimmyjames8 @JBoyette @Jeppo @Howland @Button Pusher @James Morrow @JT @KnotRight @LeeMajors @MochaJoe

Hey guys, please make sure to vote in the poll if yall can make it.

I am ashamed to admit that I just plain wussed out. I really wanted to go, but I have enough trouble as it is dealing with getting older without subjecting myself to a scenario where it would be a struggle just to look grotesquely incompetent doing things that everyone else handles relatively easily. So, I'm waiting for the next geezer fun shoot. You know, a few rounds downrange and then a long nap. :(

(I'm sending an old shotgun in my stead; it'll just be passing through, though, from @Button Pusher to @BigWaylon .)

If you want to feel young and spry, I'll let you know in the fall when I plan to do my next match, so you can enter! Then you can watch me stroll about and you'll feel ever so much better about your life! Isn't that nice of me??

(Of course, next time I'll have a gun with no malfunctions, so I might get a tad faster than in my first match! LoL. You'll still feel really speedy and competent, though, so I'll let you know!)

Hang you, woman, I will not be out-geezed! :p

The only way I ever feel really speedy is when I drink an extra pot of coffee! As for feeling competent? Well, that ship has sailed and was hull-down over the horizon years ago!

If you're waiting on me, you're backing up!
See you in the fall/winter at some IDPA/USPSA match or other, when it gets cool enough for an old lady to be out and about.....lol.

Visited @VOD Tactical today, You dont want to miss out on this gathering, Frank has an awesome place.

Stop being pansies and come Saturday. There will be no running on my bay, but we will have a decent drill if you want to run it.

I will have some scratch and dent ammo that needs shot up

That's a really weak excuse!

@Matt.Cross and I spent the entire day yesterday showing how much we have to learn at a DMR match, we didn't come in last place, but we definitely flirted with it. Still had an awesome time! Aside from safety issues, I've never been to a shooting comp where anyone cared how good you were so long as you were safe and helped reset targets.

None of that matters. All that matters is that you both did it, and that only matters if you put a nice hone on your edges so to speak.

Some info updated in the OP

*Probably need to bring your own food
*Skeet thrower will be up and running

You can go ahead and drop some of that at my house so I can load mags ahead of time. :p
Umm...hello?

This thing is hungry and wants to eat. It’s been home about a week and I’m sure several are coming that will want to feed it. :D
