I've got an opportunity to get a safe queen VM-22. I need feedback on these rifles, there's not a lot of press out there, and Rimfire Central seems to only care about Kidd rifles in this price class.

Don’t know about the Volquartsen factor but I do not like that Magpul Hunter stock on a 10/22 … it just does not feel solid to me.

ETA … Oh yeah … what are you looking to do with it?

I've never handled a rifle in that stock, but I like the look of it. You may well know something here. Volquartsen has other 10/22 clones that are in laminated stocks and go for a lot more money.

Q: "What do you want to do with it?"

A: Appleseed, and action plinking at steel, and maybe some benched shooting at paper since I've grown bored of my CZ 455.

I have one of their Classic rifles in 17HMR I lucked into years ago for a good deal. It is an absolute tack driver. I have one of the magpul stocks on a standard tactical 10/22 and it is a definite improvement over the factory stock. I really like it and have another for a build I have been planning for awhile.

For Appleseed and Action Steel that weight savings would be a nice plus. As to paperwork, you got the 455 to fill that out with when you want your good. It’s another club in the bag …

Well, I got a new .22 today, but it's not the VM-22. I grabbed a Volquartsen custom build he had instead that was built with Victor Titan stock (with QD swivels, picatinny section for bi-pod mounting, and cheek riser), Volquartsen receiver, Volquartsen Stainless Match barrel (threaded with forward blow comp). It saved me a little money to go this route, and the stock is already outfitted with the mounts and stuff I would have needed to buy for the VM-22. Now I just pray this thing runs...always the fear with 2nd hand things.

Oh, I put my Trijicon Accupower 1-8 LVPO on there with Steiner rings. I was afraid it would be too massive (weighs 1 pound 14 oz), but it balances nicely and makes an almost too light rifle feel more substantial.
