I was thinking the same thing. Our 2006 4Runner, which has been our primary tow vehicle, is wearing down and I would like to replace it with a larger diesel truck, but have no desire to pay the trim line inflation that has plagued passenger trucks for features I neither care about nor need.
 
My mom just traded in a 2019 Forester on a 2022 Crosstrek. She got $3k more for her Forester than she bought it for. Looks like those times are ending.
