I'm looking for a decent spotting scope clamp for a shooting bench. Most of the one's I've found online are quite expensive! Any suggestions would be helpful.
I'm making one from a set of pipe clamp ends (new from Lowes), scrap 4ft of grey metal pipe and an old camera tripod swivel. Parts have been sourced but no time to work on it (winter project).
Great idea - looks like you can do it for under $50 in parts. $15 for the clamp, $25 for the swivel, $10 for pipe and misc parts. How do you plan to attach the swivel to the pipe?
3/8" (1/4"?) AL bar stock, unknown length. Have a hole that fits around the pipe with a cut on the end and 1" into the bar (center of the pipe hole) that enables the bar to clamp on the pipe when compressed. Probably use a bolt, tighten to contract.
These are pretty stable if you thought it would work and wanted all in one but they are a little more pricey. You would just need to add the clamp they sell on one end. I use them for work for demos and a extra hand when needed.
