I'll save the story for a bit, but can anyone identify what this is???

@cubrock you're the only one I could think of off the too of my head that may have seen these floating around at the shows.

Our resident Limey has given you as much info as I can. It looks righteous from here.
 
I've dabbled in these and would have to check references to tell you much. All the Nazi daggers are commonly faked and have been for years. Also, they were made postwar without the Nazi markings for commercial sale, often at the same factories that made them for the Nazis. These commercial knives became the basis for a lot of the fakes and make the very difficult to catch at times.

With all that said, it looks good in the pics. Hope we hear the story from BOG.

My wife's grandfather was an Army private when they dropped in for D-day. I'll have to get my memory refreshed from my FIL so I don't screw it up, but I'm almost 100% sure this made its way back with him. The same resourceful man that retired as a colonel. He left some stuff for the grand kids and now great grand kids as well.
