So, I aint on the level that most of y'all are, but I was looking to step up my timepiece game. I happened across the Torgoen site and found a few pieces that interested me for seemingly reasonable prices. Any one have any experience with them?

I haven't heard of them but they look like a niche market watch. I will say the sizes they have are pretty big. You'll need to have big wrists to pull off those.

It's still in my top 3. The alpina dropped to 4th

So, my Seiko Solar chronograph is AWOL. Lost or stolen.
I needed another "outdoor" watch and ordered this for fifty bucks.
Japanese quartz movement. Water resist. Screw down crown. Me likey.
The last fifty dollar Japanese quartz dive watch I bought I wore for 25 years.

I think they list for $69.95. It is exactly what I was looking for, and since it's cheap, I won't lose it.

It's going up for sale. I'm having some car work done next week so I need the extra cash.

I'm always impressed when I wear this one. It rarely ever gets wrist time. If anyone is interested let me know before I post it in the bst.

Dang, two years and I have a thread still going.

Well, good timing - I accidentally washed my cheap (~$40) Timex Expedition.
I took it apart this morning to get the condensation out and replace the battery (I dont know if it was the spin cycle or the tumble dry that killed it...) and now I cant get the back back on it.
It runs, keeping time, but I cant get it put back together.
Also, Ineed to mess with it to get the illumination feature to work...the side post is flat against the bezel and not allowing it to push in to illuminate.

Unfortunately you can’t get any parts from timex anymore. Some pushers(buttons)are held in with c or e clips others are a sealed unit. Take it apart and clean all the sh...err...crap from inside the pusher and in the groove in the case.
Casebacks on Timex’s are usually tight. I use a case/crystal press.

i knew I had seen a watch thread! I'll post my new one when it comes in. It's not near as fancy as most here. I also have an old pocket watch from my Granddad that I'll have to dig out and post pics of.

Its not about being fancy, it's about what you like and use

Right now Ive been wearing a cheap Timex Weekender to work. Its small, light, and I dont bump it into desks all day.
And even if I did, its a 20 dollar watch...who cares?
Vs one of my ecodrive watches, which would cost much more to replace

Someone posted about Shinola in the other thread, they are nice looking, and made in USA, which is cool, but, dang, they are pricey!

He's right ^

It's definitely not about being fancy. My watches range in value. I prefer some of the cheaper ones over some of the more expensive ones.

Even the air king I have, while expensive, it's vintage so it's less obvious it's a Rolex. I get more compliments on my Alpina than I do the air king.

I've found most people enjoy how they look where I look for the type of movement. It kills me when I notice someone's watch that's a 4-5k watch and they know nothing about it other than it's a rolex + the model.

I really like the Casio PRW6000 but it was $600. I'm not spending that on a watch that i wear everywhere doing everything. My problem is that my eye goes imediately to the $3 or $4k MrG. Hell, I could find tons of watches I'd love to have but they are all $1k+! I ordered the Citizen Primo CA0687-58E. It has an MSRP of $395. I saw them everywhere for around $300. I got one for $166 from these guys.

Where is a good place to get schooled up on movements? I'd like to learn more myself. I feel I know more about pocket watches since I have more of them and they are a little easier to study the movements and complications.

Watchuseek has been a huge help for me. There's also a guy that reviews watches on YouTube that I'll try to find the link for.
