Ok, watch/gun guys help me out here. I have scraped together a small budget for a new toy. Been thinking about a watch or two for a long time. Like the looks of pilot watches. But for pilot watch money I could own another gun. I haven't worn a watch in years, but used to be a watch guy. Don't 'need' any more guns either but you know how that goes.

Watch, gun,watch, gun, watch, gun.....?

I've wanted a Tag for a long time. I'm in the market for a used one, but where to go to avoid being burned?

I've got the first version of this watch. The leather strap stinks...literally. I swapped mine for a stainless steel clasp band. I've received numerous compliments on the watch, not that it's why I wear it. It's a great watch and never needs a battery. Only downside is there's no light. The hands and hour marks glow for a little while, but not for hours. Also, the blue paint along edge of my crystal bezel has rubbed off after years of use (readjusting the dial to an even alignment--not like I actually use the calculations function of it!). Luckily, it doesn't hurt the looks of the watch. Almost blends right in.

My dead skyhawk that needs a battery.

Blue angels with the leather band. I prefer a bracelet but haven't got one for it yet. May take it off the skyhawk.

I have dressed up some not so expensive watches over the years with nice new straps and bracelets from the watch prince.

The Hadley Roma metal bracelets are a lot of bang for the buck. Very nice quality for not so many dollars.

Here's my Citizen EcoDrive Sky Hawk Blue Angels edition:

I don't know if this was the first edition of it or what, but i'm seeing various versions of this watch. I've got multi-function display ability on the LCDs, including different timezones with one custom spot for your zone/airport code.

Or you could buy a watch worth 10-20 guns. Totally seems worth it. :p

Went out today and got new batteries in my shabby collection of old watches. The jewelry store guy was digging my Titanium Seiko so maybe I am not as dated as I thought. Also ordered something new today. Should be here in 1-2 weeks supposedly. I'll post some pics of my motley collection when it comes in. It should raise the collection's appearance a little bit.

I really like divers' watches, and I used the hell out of them--when I was diving. Now that I am not, although there are more beautiful watches, I have not been able to find one that works better than a Casio.

Removed the plastic resin watch band from an older Casio Dive watch and added a NATO OD band. It was a bit of a challenge getting the pins in with the 18mm band but I got it to work. Much more comfortable and looks good I think.

The ol' lady gave me this Original Grain watch for our 10yr anniversary this past weekend. Been wanting a black one. I have a brown/copper one with bourbon barrel oak inlay. This one is Verawood and a chronograph...

I have a slide rule watch. I used to actually use the slide rule on it. Then I got old(er), and can't read the numbers on the bezel any more without magnification, which sort of defeats the purpose. Now it's just for looks :(

I need to go take pics of my paltry collection of four watches :)

A watch I've been thinking about the last few days is the Seiko Alpinist SARB017.

It's a pretty cool watch. Meant for the Japanese mountaineers(Yama-otoko), it needed to be rugged, but also dressy, as they were seen as gentlemen outdoorsmen. It was one of the first of the "explorer" watches.

It's only sold in Japan, so it needs to be imported. Amazing green face, a built in compass, waterproof to 200 meters, has a power reserve of 50 hours, and uses a more accurate movement(6R15) than the standard. It has sapphire glass usually only seen on more expensive watches($1000+) as well as an internal shock protection also only seen on the more expensive watches. Really bright illumination, and a hacking ability(most cheap automatic watches will keep running when you try to change the time, this will stop and allow you to set it to the second).

Looking it up on watchuseek and youtube, it gets rave reviews. Only downside is the crappy strap, which is easily replaced.

Ok, time to contribute. My new watch showd up today. My current watch collection has one watch I didn't get a pic of. It is a Timex Marathon I used all through HS and College when I used to be a big runner. I don't plan on doing too much running so I didn't resurrect that one.

First up, a fine Timex Expedition I purchased at least 15 years ago for a night fishing trip. Thought the Indiglo would be useful. It was. Once. It is one gorgeous piece. Must have cost me a good $20. But it is working still.

A little more modern dress watch. Probably on 15-20 years old aslo. But it is titanium and just disappears on the wrist so I still really like this one.

That is a sexy watch!

I wouldn't quite call it sexy since I am pretty dull. I looked at lots of watches ad decided I liked the traditional German pilot watches. Almost bought a Laco. Then decided I'd rather spend my money on a US watch. Well in my budget that isn't easy. So I found MKII. That is their cheapest watch. Designed in the US and made in Japan with the look I liked. I figured at least the warranty and service is in PA. Small company with a good reputation and following.

I haven't worn a watch in years. There are clocks all over the house, in the car and on my phone. Don't have a need for a one now.

I have an Apple Watch, and like it very much. Is it $300+ useful? I can't answer that, but I like it and am glad I bought it. It seems to be the easiest one to use as well.

That is a great looking watch! Have you seen it in person? Some pics seem to show it with a polished bezel, others with brushed, I like the polished look.

Im the opposite, I loved the brushed look over polished

Poncy sounding guy, but good video of the watch. Looks polished.
