I've never owned a can myself but had access to one years ago. I am not well versed in this medium. A couple of days ago a guy told me that "wetting" a suppressor makes quieter. I had never heard this before. Anything to it?????????????

“Wetting” suppressors a gen or 2 back did help cut the dB levels noticeably. Thing from water to gel use to pull electrical wiring (non-flammables) helped especially with 1st round pop because the ablative displaced air which caused the pop. Today’s technology has cut the need for it but some people still run an ablative like dBFoam or wire gel to cut it. Water is down on the list of ablatives but he’ll I’ve heard of one idiot using peanut butter ...

They say it reduces a few DB off the numbers. I tried it for the first time the other day and couldn't really tell. It may have taken the first round pop down a little though. When I get some time I hope to experiment more.

I use wire pulling gel over water. I do know you're supposed to clean the supressor after shooting wet.

Generally not done for centefire rifles. More common with pistols. Some rimfire use as well.

Almost anything works. Seriously.
Wire pulling gel. Ultrasound gel. Water. Dr Pepper (only mention that one because there a video of somebody doing it). Water. Spit in it. White lithium grease.

A very small amount is all you’re after. Reducing FRP is generally the benefit.

I find it more trouble than it’s worth.

I blew up a Warlock silencer with water pulling jel once. Bulged the side out . Be careful with that stuff. I didnt think I put too much in there . I did. Had to pay new tax to get a replacement.

Never ran 22 cans wet. Pistol cans are the best to benefit from being wet. I used to just rack my glock open and dump whatever I was drinking right in the chamber. Loaded it and shot it. Should have seen the reactions from people. Lol. Used water, coffee, soda. Just aboit anything liquid.
