Weather Today. Warning be careful!

Thanks for the heads up.
Been a wild week for rain and storms so far!
Got a small tree down in my back yard

Yeah, WFMY2 is reporting a prediction for severe weather from 2-7 pm across a large swath of NC. Pretty much all of the middle of the state. Wind, large hail, and possibly a tornado or two.

Glad I had the tree guy out to take down the trees of concern here.

Could use some rain but would prefer it not be a severe storm. Have a pine that is cracked at the base and leaning, waiting for a guy to take care of it.

As soon as I started trying to pack and move stuff in advance for the move the weather turned to crap. Sorry folks, this was me.

It's 'cause you're a Brit. NC is trying to make you feel right at home.

So they're going to flood NC with unwashed hordes of Africans and Islamic sorts and then ignore all their criminal doings and organized pedophilia?

Making me feel like I'm back in England means another humorous Boogaloo meme event I suspect.

The Storm Prediction Center has issued an Enhanced Risk for most of this area east of the mountains. The main threat for today will be strong straight-line winds up to and over 58 mph this afternoon and evening associated with lines and clusters of thunderstorms. Not expecting widespread gusts over 75 mph at this time. That said, an isolated occurrence of hail up to 1" cannot be ruled out within a few thunderstorms and a brief tornado (usually weak) is possible as well, but a tornado outbreak is not expected.

Time to tie up those mater plants good.

Thank you for the heads up! I thought things felt unsettled this morn but hadn't gotten around to looking for a forecast.

Bummer, Im not even going too bother trying to secure 10' sunflowers. Plenty of chow for the chickens and seeds for 3rd planting.

We just got our first watch on the NOAA weather radio. Looks nice and peaceful, sunny and a light breeze, for the moment. Y'all be careful.

Just saw the storm alert issued here. Dammit, I forgot to bring my ham radio with me today. I could tune into the Skywarn networks if I had it.

Just stepped outside of the hospital for a few minutes. Really weird: very windy, rain to the north, some lightning, but a few patches of open clouds with sunlight streaming in.

The wind got right sporty here a few minutes ago. Then the bottom dropped out. Wind has calmed a bit. Not raining AS hard, but still raining hard.

The ongoing line has a pretty good history of reports of downed trees and gusts to 60 mph thus far (Yellow dots on the map). This ongoing line should persist eastward through the OBX.

I may have spoken too soon. Skies are graying again to the west.

I'm done working for the day so I'm gonna head downstairs and ride out the rest of the storms on the front porch with some whisky.

At least I was working at home today and was therefore able to make good use of my lunch break. I mowed the lawn before the rain started :).

And here is the result. Was talking to the wife as she drove home. She found this across the road and had to go around to another road to get home. This thing.is like 220 ft from my drive. I was sitting on the front porch enjoying the rain when a car vame from the opposite direction. They stopped and turned around in my driveway. A truck came behind it a blew right on past. Next thing I hear is the truck slamming into this tree. Couldn't beliebe he kept on goin.

We had one big wave come through, power’s been out for 45 min, 250+ homes w/o power.
This website shows the moving storm.
I notice your profile says Moncure. Kept hearing the sky warm reports of a storm popping up around Goldston moving east at 70 mph. My wife said the trees were really whipping here (in Goldston) and the power blipped a few times. Got a Duke text message about a power outage at our property nearby in Bear Creek, but didn’t check on it. Only had small twigs and branches down,

It was starting and my MIL was going up 77 in her new car. She pulled over and went to camping world pulled under their awning and it started hailing. They told her to leave and she told them not until it stopped raining. 10 minutes later she left.

Severe weather needs to be respected, and actual (factual) warnings need to be headed.

If you get your weather from your local Sinclair Broadcasting owned station, they have been mandated by Sinclair to over hype dangerous weather with their "Weather Warn" days, or "Code Red" days. Weather casters in some markets have been fired for down playing the hype.

My local Sinclair station, WLOS, started the hype a day or two ago.... we had 0.04 inches of rain and a maximum wind of 11 MPH (according to my weather station) and a pretty nice day, yet they stuck to the Weather Warn hype even with the 6 PM weather.

The following stations in NC, are own by Sinclair... WMYV, WXLV, WYDO, WCTI, WMYA, WLOS, WRDC, and WLFL

Duke texted they expected the power restored @ 2am.
Verizon didn’t send any phone alerts this time.

We were lucky here. Had a couple of shingles stand up. Neighbor had a small tree come down and that is all that I am aware of. Our highest wind was only 34mph but came in at just the right direction to hit the roof where it effected the shingles.
