I received this Excam Tanfoglio TA-90 as a birthday present from my wife used from a pawnshop back in the late 90's down in Pensacola. Shot it a bunch through the years...I'm guessing 18k rounds or so.
Recently after smacking steel targets at the Foothills Public Shooting range I noticed a very fine crack at the right rear frame rail around to the side of the receiver. The crack is so fine I had to rub a pencil over the crack to get it to show up for the camera. Gun functions fine as always. No stress marks around slide stop or anywhere else.
Would this be MIG/TIG weldable? I've been scouring the web for a used TZ-75/TA-90 frame to no avail.
Any ideas?

send her back. I assume you still can.

This. They may replace the frame if you send it back. Have someone booger with it and then you’ll be replacing the frame at your cost

Uh, the importer, Excam has been out of business since the early 90's.
(The gun is 30 years old as it was made in 1988.)
EAA is the current Tanfoglio importer. I may ask them. All EAA imports now are large frame steel and polymer frame Witnesses...
(Mine is the old school small frame.)

Thanks for the input...

Yeah, I was afraid it might be a rare bird. I don't know much about them other than the one I shot was really nice. I'd see if EAA would look at it before I messed with it. Might get a free slide out of it, or not.... Still out nothing. But if that didn't work, I'm sure a skilled gunsmith/ welder could hook it up.

If you can't get factory support.
I imagine it could be tig welded. I would not use mig. I would expect it to crack again eventually either way. I think I'd probably stop drill it with a small bit and live with some ugliness.

Ok, got it welded. This group out of Michigan fixed it up.
Need to reassemble and shoot.

Invoice says "Excam frame - grind out and laser weld crack in rear of frame"
I'm pleased with the work....

That is indeed a micro precision weld!

I hope the weld holds but please let us know if it fails.

Sorry guys...just saw the recent posts in this thread...
It cost me $80 for labor....plus $17 return shipping.

I've put about 100 rounds through it so far. Seems like it's holding up fine. I need to put a bunch more through it to really wring it out.
If my wife hadn't given me the gun I probably would have put the money toward a new pistol and and scrapped the Tanfoglio frame.
It was more of a sentimental thing for me.
