So shot my G23 after putting on new sights, had several light primer strikes.
Seems I have been struck by the sticky Frog Lube monster. Seems have snuck down into the striker channel, it's sticky and gummy on the plastic thing that holds the striker and spring.

To be fair the Froglube I have is probably several years old, so I could get new Froglube and their solvent, start over or just figure out how to strip it all off and go back to Weaponshield, which I had no problems with.

So how do I get it gone? Read 90% rubbing alcohol or acetone, brake cleaner, etc.
What won't eat the plastic in the striker channel?

I had the exact same thing happen to an AR and turned me off on it. Bolt was almost frozen in green goo.

I had some WD40 in my truck so I sprayed until dripping. Then mag dumped 2 mags through.

When I got home I used brake cleaner a tooth brush and pipe cleaners.

If it migrated to those areas it sounds like it wasn't applied properly.

To remove use non chlorinated brake cleaner

It very well could be, I don't think I applied more than a light wipe to it when I applied it. But its definitely all gummed up in there.

For oil i use hoppes and for slide grease i use some crap i bought from brownells. Coconut oil would probably work for slide grease until the first time you shoot it or leave it on a hot carseat

Just ordered some WeaponShield off Amazon, will be going back to that, I had no issues with it before.
I have some squeeky door hinges that will get the rest of the Frog Lube I have leftover.

While you could have misapplied it, I know I didn't and any oil meant to go onto a firearm should not have a temperament that causes it to gum up no matter how you apply it.

I was impressed with frog lube when it first came out, but just like a lot of things, long term testing is needed to ensure it will work all the time every time.

I had a few friends using it as well and some of them started complaining about it becoming sticky after awhile.

I followed all of the directions, heated the parts, applied the paste and let them cool. I wiped every thing down with a microfiber cloth rag and put it back together. It worked great at the range that day.

Before I left, I field stripped the gun and wiped it off with a microfiber cloth. The carbon came right off. I put 2 drops of liquid lube onto the bolt rails and reassembled.

The gun sat behind the seat of my truck for about 6 months and I pulled it out at another range. It fired one round and failed to eject. The bolt was stuck halfway open. When I got it racked and field stripped it looked like someone had poured Mt Dew all over the internals and all the water had evaporated out leaving a thick, green gooey mess.

I stripped cleaned every gun I had put frog lube on after that.

I think there are a few contributing factors.
A: I didn't clean it well enough when I originally applied it, it interacted with whatever petroleum based product remained.
B: I applied too much last time I cleaned
C: I'm still working off their original formula and they've made changes since then, which I suspect they did, since they didn't have a solvent when I originally bought it.
D: and the most likely one that seems to be a common factor from what I have read, when it sits for a long period of time it turns to a gummy sticky mess. They address this on their website now, that if a gun sits for long period of time, you should use their solvent, clean and reapply.

While that's fine for a range gun, I probably won't have the time to clean my EDC before I need to use it.

They also seem to have recanted their original, just dunk it in a crock pot filled with Froglube application method that was their kitch when it first came out.

I'll stick with my homebrew.

So far, it has worked well in temps at either end of the spectrum and hasn't gummed up after sitting for long periods of time.

2 parts Mobil 1 10w30 full synthetic
2 parts Castrol Transmax Dex 6
1 part Mobil 1 75-90 gear oil

Weapon Shield is the best.

I generally use whatever grease or oil I have in the garage for gun lube. Have a tub of froglube too, smells great, seems to work ok in a preservative type application so I smear it on the outsides of steel guns. Could probably use Johnson's and have the same result.

I got a small tube of froglube for free when I ordered an upper I believe. I have not used any of it yet and will promptly throw it in the trash.

I'll be rolling out my own gun lube very soon. It's called WeaponWax. Here's a pic - I'm still working on some fancy tactical packaging.

My plan is to direct market to the suckers firearms owners who normally buy FireClean or FrogLube. Not only is WeaponWax an excellent gun lube, but if you're hungry and in a pinch, you can grease your pan and cook with it.

MSRP will be $15/oz. Act now and reserve yours today!

Don't waste it. Anyone with long hair in your family can use it to moisturize their hair. Plus their hair will smell better than if they just used coconut oil.

A lot of good products easy to apply available, no reason to use anything that can't just be wiped on.

I finally picked up a can of Mobil One at walmart. I always felt it was super spendy motpr oil, but compared to gun oil it's dirt cheap!
Gonna try that for a while and continue to lube rails with Eno's Slide Glide.

I used froglube for a few years with no issues. Have since switched to cudalube cause it's awesome.

Your too late....
O'Shannahans' Gold Weapon Butter is about to hit the market, he's a Tier 0(it's above Tier 1 but technically doesn't exist on paper) operator with the Irish Special Forces....he sent me a sample, but said it's preproduction because the printer put the wrong label on it, but assures me its what they all use, he's going to be releasing a Banger grease as well as a Mash solvent soon as well.

I've used this for years

But I recently got some of this.

But, neither are very tactical.

I've been really impressed with the ALG defense go juice lube.

I've been using WeaponShield for the past year or so and really love it. I used to be a FrogLube fan, and I still like it, but it's hype kinda wore thin. I saw it gunk up a bit in cold weather while duck hunting and a straight up oil like WeaponShield is much easier.

I was using it a long time ago, I actually met George Fennell at a range in Pittsburgh where he was basically giving samples away, really smart guy.
Apparently he was sued by Fireclean for basically saying it was vegetable oil.

Honestly it was his YouTube videos that made me want to give his stuff a shot. Mainly because his actual test seemed convincing when placed up against the other stuff out there.

I also like using the little pen needle dropper things, and whether it's hype or not, stuff works.

I got bit by the sticky froglube once at the range (thankfully). I pray no one ever puts that stuff on any gun they might ever remotely need to bet their life on. Why risk it?

Let's be honest though...since the election the liberal tears have kept my collection well lubed
