Well... Done with Froglube

Another firm believer in WeaponShield. Been using it for around 10yrs. Their CLP is the best hands down, the grease is awesome (and smells great), and the solvent works as well as any.

Froglube was a ripoff fad from the start. It was canon around here for awhile. Never got on that bus...

I use WeaponShield as well, but I haven't used it for very long. Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be peanut oil or something stupid.

I don't think it will. He doesn't claim it's food grade or anything like that and the smell is certainly of the "petroleum bouquet".

The reason I likeD FrogLube is that it wasn't full of toxic crap.

That's why I switched to Slip 2000 / EWL. It works really well and when it's all over my skin, I don't worry about my nards falling off or something

Same here. My daughter loves cleaning my guns with me so FL was good for when she got more of it on her than on the firearm. Now that she is older it isn't as much a big deal.

Aren't you pretty much a cyborg at this point anyway?

FWIW, someone is going to throw me in the looney bin because I started doing this as a joke. "Do I need XYZ? Why yes you do other Chad."

And now I find myself doing it all the time.

I have this meme with Kermit the frog, and another Kermit the frog with a "star wars emperor" hood on, and it's like the angel vs the devil aspect of a person's conscience. I'll put it in the veteran's forum, but I find myself thinking like that also haha

I can't ever miss a good Frog Lube thread. Totally stopped up my 1911 in freezing cold temps. Some folks swear by it. I like Mobil1 better.

I use SuperTech 10w30 full synthetic from walmart. Put everything in my ultrasonic cleaner, rinse, place in toaster oven to dry.. wipe a thin layer of oil on all metal parts, let it set for 5-10 min and wipe it down. I use brake grease for contact points. Ive got $7 in the oil and grease and will last me for years

I've been using Weapon Shield and FP10 for a while. I think they're very similar. I'm pretty sure the same guy created both. Seems to do well at breaking down deposits and it sticks around for a while as a lube too without dripping everywhere like some oils do.

I use their SuperTech grease (the red color) on my guns for lube. still have almost a whole tub and nary an issue with it.

Thats what I have as well. I dont use it as "lube" per say, but Ill put a few spots on the slide rails and stuff like that. Ive never had an issue with it either.

So shot my G23 after putting on new sights, had several light primer strikes.
Seems I have been struck by the sticky Frog Lube monster. Seems have snuck down into the striker channel, it's sticky and gummy on the plastic thing that holds the striker and spring.

To be fair the Froglube I have is probably several years old, so I could get new Froglube and their solvent, start over or just figure out how to strip it all off and go back to Weaponshield, which I had no problems with.

So how do I get it gone? Read 90% rubbing alcohol or acetone, brake cleaner, etc.
What won't eat the plastic in the striker channel?
Make up some Ed's Red. Great stuff.

I usually wear pants while cleaning my guns.
