Well I guess I'm doing the MP5 clone thing now...

Got out of the house with the wife yesterday to visit a couple shops in the Raleigh area. Came across this PTR 9CT that had been traded. I figured it wouldn't last long so I went ahead and took it home. This is my first clone and I'm not familiar with the MP5 platform.

I have a few questions for the resident experts:

1: Can I install an ambi-safety in this? I'm left handed. Which one would fit this style receiver?
2: Are there any QD swivel options so I can use a BFG 2 point sling?
3: Which mags should I purchase for this? Are KCIs ok? Anybody know a source for German made mags?
4: Since this has the top rail, which red dot is recommended for this platform?
5: Any other upgrades I should be looking at?

Congratulations on the PTR! It is a good looking rig. KCI’s are hit or miss. I bought 4 and all had to have the feed lips tweaked. They wouldn’t lock in when empty. Others have had the same issues and many have no issues at all. My HK branded German mags would lock up and function flawlessly. I bought my last mags from an HK dealer on HKPro. He since ran out and everyone else seems to be charging $70-100 each for German mags.

Romeo5 with high mount will allow you to use iron sights and still use the red dot above.
The low mount is too high to use the irons, unfortunately.
