What’s this critter?

This was upside down on the garage floor. From my eye level, it looked like a piece of plastic, maybe 1.5” long. Went to pick it up and the plastic moved. 😳

Click beetle, they’ll pop up in the air when on their back, or if you pick it up.
That linkage snatches the pull rod in.

We played with them as kids. Flip them over and see how high they jump as they flip themselves over.

She was listening to a book on her iPod so she didn’t hear me. But, I don’t think there are any deer left on our property. 😢
