Currahee!

Yes, that 506th. I have an engraved copy of the Scrapbook. My grandmother dated this guy and I have no idea how she ended up with it. It's engraved to Sgt William S Langton C Company. But I can't quite track down his involvement in the Regiment at this point. Thought you guys might get a kick out of this. When I opened it up and saw the Currahee and Col R F Sink my jaw dropped.

And some say scrapbooking is just for old women.

Very cool find!

That is an awesome and amazing find! My uncle was a combat engineer with the 101st, his platoon attached to 506.

I called my mom to ask her some questions. Apparently my grandmother kept a scrap book during the war. I told her she needs to dig that one out for me too.

A little backstory to something else I found last night. My grandmother was engaged to a guy named bud at the start of the war. We have lots of letters scattered through her stuff. WE found several last night. One was from Bud before he shipped out. I thought a second was from him too. But it was from grandmothers sister, which caught me off guard. Until I checked the envelope. It was return to sender. Checked the date and then it hit me. They mailed that letter 2 weeks after he was killed in Luxembourg. Then I noticed that the army had stamped "deceased" in the corner of the envelope too. Then found a letter from my Grandfather that he sent as soon as he heard about Bud. Finally found out my grandfather was in the 76th Infantry with the 364th Artillery Medical Detachment. Tracked their movements down and they were in Luxembourg too, Weilerbach Station. The Army had cut out parts of his letter home. I'm guessing the part said he could look across the Sure river into Germany. They were chasing the Germans at the time. Also means they were chasing the Germans from pushing them out of the Ardennes at the Battle of the Bulge which was where the 76th was before Luxembourg.
