What are you drinking?

Everything at work broke down today, spent way too much time in the toolbox. Tonight I went for the liquor cabinet.
Cooler weather, why not a little peat smoke. Been too long. Slainte!
What is the price on that?

I picked up some Jim Beam Double Oak for $22+tax yesterday. A little dry, but not bad for the price. Bourbon in this price range is much better than Irish whiskey or scotch in this price range.

I haven't got to try any Ardbeg yet. I am looking forward to it.

I tried the Lagavulin 16. It was good, don't get me wrong, but a little weak for my taste.

However, I am madly in love right now with the peaty offerings from Laphroig. I have had the Select and the Quarter Cask. The Select is a little soft but awesome peat taste. The Quarter Cask is getting closer to the strength I like. Next up is the Cask Strength. I am pretty sure the Cask Strength is gonna be my "happy place". Not gonna know for sure until I get my hands on it.

I'm bad about becoming a "fan boy" with the spirits I like. I think Laphroig has gained a fan for life. I kinda hope I don't like Ardbeg because that will complicate things. LOL!

About $65-70 as best as I can remember. Yes, I agree that cheap bourbon >cheap scotch.

Been drinking Balvenie Caribbean cask tonight. Along with some Jameson's and Oban that Crazy Carl brought over. I can't feel my face right now and that's not a bad thing.....

Steel Reserve Fruit Punch . Ashamed I'm drinking it and ashamed it's in my house but it is an addition to my Untappd app.

I'll say I like some malt liquors once in a while mainly OE800. I've had the normal steel Reserve, the blackberry, fruit punch, lemonade and high gravity. They are all terrible. Like very terrible. The fruit punch somebody said tastes like a Hawaiian Punch with alcohol. I wouldn't recommend any unless you're wanting to do like me and add one to a beer app. Stay away there's better options for at or around the same price on the cheap drinking side.

Yeah if hobos like it then I'd stay away. If Steel Reserve were my go to beverage then I feel I'd have to take a step back and reevaluate my life decisions.

Ill have to revisit this thread thus time next week...gonna be in asheville, and spending a day at Sierra Nevada...sooo need a weekend of beer.

Had the original in Florida years ago. Awesome! Oskar Blues is brewing what we get around here under the CC label. Still good.......

They were bought by Oskar last year. They have the same distributor now. I was stoked when they expanded distribution to NC earlier this year after owning the brand for almost a year. It's been a favorite of mine for years. I drink it often when I am in Tampa/St Pete's... Same guys doing it in Brevard...

Was passing thru Black Mountain today and wheeled in the ABC to see what they had that I can't get in Angier. Score! The Blantons was just sitting there waiting for me to pick it up. The dude said it had come in yesterday and that bottle had lasted till today. The Bowmore was something else I had read about and wanted to try. As the weather gets colder I start gravitating to the Islay malts. Some days are better than others.... Cheers!
