It has been one of those days. Was hoping to get a workout in but just worn out so I came home thinking I need a drink.

Bought more Dickel in Blowing Rock ABC. Seemingly plenty on the shelf. No limit on purchases.

We had a friend and his wife over for dinner and drinks last night. I told them if they wanted to just plan to crash here that was cool so they could both drink and not worry about driving. It was a good thing too. We killed a bottle of Baby Saz, a bottle of Bulleit Barrel strength and had a few pours out of others. We were all quite hammered.

Uncle nearest off menu cocktail at an intimate little place called Bait in the city. Delicious!

Did something out of my normal. There was a fund raising that was a McCallan scotch tasting. Besides a 6 course meal they featured different McCallan scotchs. First up was Red breast (I think...it is from the McCallan brand), then to a single malt, next a double cask, then a Double Cask Sherry Oak and finished with a triple cask. All but the single malt I found drinkable. The McCallan representative was there and explained a lot about the company and he said that McCallan is the only scotch company that makes their own barrels. Also, they rent the Sherry Port from a company in Spain for 3 years to season the barrels and they returns it back to that company to sale. He also said that they have 42 different SKU items. I asked if they were all scotch and he said that McCallan also makes a tequila and rum product. I found that interesting. By the end of the night when you could order at a 20%ish discount I ended up buying a 15 year old triple cask scotch (https://www.themacallan.com/en/triple-cask-matured-15-years-old.) I really do not know that much about scotch but this stuff is good and you did not have to add a couple drops of water to bring out the flavor.

I've watched Band of Brothers 4 or 5 times over the years. Wholeheartedly love it.

Since I have kind of dorked out on bourbon and scotch over the past couple of years, I've always kind of wanted and wondered about the Vat 69 Scotch that Captain Nixon seemed so enamored with.

But as hard as I tried I was never able to find it here in the USA.

But today, on a nice dreary Saturday with nothing to do but sharpen knives and watch Band of Brothers, I get to enjoy that very scotch thanks to a dear friend (and forum member) who just got back from a business trip to England!

What a neat day!

Now working on my 2nd cup of Doughnut Shop coffee trying to stay away.

Better stuff to come after dark.

Spent the morning cleaning out my storage shed so that I could get some crap out of my shop and actually have room to work. Hauled off a trailer load of junk that's been in there since we moved 5 years ago. Now sitting here by the fire drinking some Weller Antique waiting for the coals to get right for the steaks.

Coffee rubbed beef tenderloin about to commence cooking.

Working on a little Heaven's Door (Double Bourbon) getting ready to go to a Mexican Restaurant. Damn, those steaks look better than the taco that I will be ordering.
