About time we had a running post about all the daily little stuff we do in the hobby.

I found a Kenwood TH-K20A HT slightly used for half the cost of new on QRZ and it's on the way.
I chatted with a guy who was mobile in Fayettville on the JARS repeater (he must have a great radio and antenna)
I looked all the way through my HRO catalog......again.......

Worked a bit of ARRL WWDX CW ...bad to debug the keyer and swap one out The faithful Idiom Press finally ran its batteries down ... odd that it fails key down. Bands were not great but theres some dx always on particularly at early grey line. Head cold stopped me after a bit.

Dang allergies are killing me, taking 2 different meds and still....

Talked to noway2 yesterday afternoon on the 2 meter CB. W4GG was revived. It was nice to talk to him.

Today, talked some mobile Simplex on the way to fly drones. Too pretty to be inside today. Calling my weekly Net tonight. Usually 15-20 check-ins.

Doubled the length of my radiator wire and immediately made contact with a station in Charleston, SC on 75M. SWR dropped from 2.5:1 to 1.2:1.

AWESOME! Maybe you can be LOUD and PROUD :)

I cussed and fumed. My elderly transmitter doesn't work and the receiver has decided to occasionaly only function in 2.5 hz steps. I'm crossing my fingers that a hard reset will make everything right again but that didn't work with my first wife so I don't hold out a lot of hope.

Probably time for a new transceiver - just damn! ;)

Is that the Ten-Tec I sold you about 5 years ago? Neat old radio. Gonna repair it?

htperry Nope. That glorious Ten Tec was shelved a couple years ago for a refurbed FT-757GXii. Last I recall, it was rolling along just fine. Its string broke again but I had bought a frequency counter for it by then so I knew where I was without it. I should probably pull it back out and fire it back up.

As you are my spiritual elmer, would you mind if I PM you to help determine if my old stuff is worth fixing?

Feel free to PM.

When I restrung that dial, I got the elastic cord I used from Hobby Lobby. I still have the unused balance of the pack here. That Ten-tec was a neat, compact base radio. Glad it is still going.

It's here, in my hot little hands (TH-K20A). The menu is almost exactly like my Kenwood TM-281A so programming is familiar.
Chirp does not support this radio yet but there is a ticket on it.
It sounds great! The audio is impressive. LIKE LIKE LIKE
