Had to do the 50hr oil change in the tractor at 48hrs. I expect to be running it for 5-6 hrs on a job Saturday and didn't want the original oil worked too hard.

Do they weld the bolts??? I'll be going to the dealer and demand a new drain bolt. It was so tight it rounded on the first try.

Not a damn thing, it was 98F today which means my South-facing garage was about 105F with 112% humidity! My wife's cubbies for her classroom can wait until tomorrow, so I can at least get myself a cheap fan to throw in the garage. Looking into exhaust fans to install over the side entry door.

I keep at least one cheap box fan in my south facing garage, and a stool to prop it on if I'm under the hood. It makes a world of difference.

Yup, that's where my head is, but only $10 at WM. Plus it gets so humid in my garage, it can't hurt to let it run anytime my main or side door is open just to exchange some air.

I've got a couple of these. They really move some air and the flow can be aimed up or down depending if I'm on a ladder or not. I've usually got two set up in the garage while I'm doing an install. I wish they would follow me around. At least I get to walk in front of them as I'm going back and forth. They're easy to fit on the truck too. Don't take up much space.

Did you need to buy a new set of pins for the lower arms or were they not installed?

I see you used your new pole while getting it too!!

I had a set of pins I had bought at Agri-Supply a while back. I put them in and left the ones already there in it in caseI ever wanted to run it "backwards".

Pole worked great getting it out of the truck.

I can use the scoop to get firewood on the porch too:cool:

Stabbed my self with a pick and stood up to fast so I hit my head on the lift arm. Said a few choice words. That was how the day went.

I remember scrubbing floors one night with all the lifts raised at Sears in the mid 70s's. Bumped my head on a lift arm. Hurt like hades. About ten minutes and three bays over I thought I was sweating rather profusely from under my hat. It was blood, LOL

I've not been very active here the past few weeks, but it's been for a good reason. My garage includes my gun cleaning and gun smithing area, but ever since I converted a chunk of the bench to reloading, things have been in disarray. I was cleaning on my larger tool box but it's really too tall and with the hutch there wasn't enough working room.

To resolve this I bought an old tool box and cleaned it up, replaced all the slides and drawer liners, and now it will be used exclusively for gun cleaning and maintenance. It ain't too pretty, and the vise isn't installed yet, but it's the right height and having places for the screwdrivers, punches, brass hammers, specialty tools and cleaning supplies is great.

Anyway, this is what I've been doing in my garage.

Mac Tool decal on a Snap On tool box. Is that like a tramp stamp?

I like that idea. I may have to steal it if the boss will let me put another box in his shop.

It was slutty like that when I got it. Don't really know the best way to remove the stickers, anyone have suggestions? Once removed I'm thinking firearm related stickers, Suppressors, sights, etc. Or maybe nothing, especially if they are hard to get off.

I would go with these.

Done that myself many times, hope you feel better :)

As a former Snap-on franchisee, I find this disturbing and I am officially triggered. 813D3CB4-A724-4FEB-9F2C-373D16A3387F.JPG

Heat gun to remove and WD40 for the glue under it.

If your grass is so tall or your yard is so steep that you need a winch so your mower can pull itself out, you might need a bigger mower. Or a herd of goats. ;)
It is not mine, I do some fab work for the public. It is not a mower (no deck) but a little tractor.

I have actually gotten my JD mower stuck before and a winch would have been a God send.... :)

I ran into a interesting one today. Customer brought their car in complaining that the parking, tail and dash lights would not cut off. This was a 2002 Honda civic with a 1.7l and auto trans. I will shorten this story because it took a while to figure out. Usually people bring their cars in because something doesn't work. This one was different because it would not quit working. I started by unplugging the switch to check it and with the switch unplugged the lights where still on. With the switch unplugged the lights where still on this should not have been possible according to the wiring diagram unless the multiplex control unit was bad. I ran all the tests on the unit and it tested fine. While the unit and the switch where unplugged the lights continued to burn. Ok so this should be impossible unless a wiring harness melted or wore through and shorted the wires to a power source so I inspected the wiring harness and found no issues. I was really scratching my head at this point so I decided to pull the fuses to anything that could feed the circuit. I pulled them and the lights still would not go out. This made no sense what so ever. Wiring is my thing and this was kicking my but so I though I had to have missed something. So I started rechecking the harness for damage as this was the only thing that made sense to cause this. I told myself I ws going to touch every inch of the harness looking for melted or chaffed wiring, I got into the dash and followed it with my fingers till I couldn't reach it any more and had to start taking the dash apart. I pulled out the instrument cluster and then went on to the climate control and the radio. When I pulled the radio I though I heard something rattle inside it so I shook it and heard it again. I looked in it with a flash light and there sat a dime laying across the circuit board right where the wiring harness plugs in. The dime was shorting the radio memory power back into the lighting circuit and keeping the light on. Turns out the peoples kid was feeding the cd player change. God I am glad I do not have kids!
@Short Fuse It's cars like these that keep us sharp. Nice find. How many hours did you have in it?

99 Sable slow to crank but started right up lastnight on way home from office.
Checked it today with meter, 11.5 then with headlights on 9.6V.
Off to Sears to get another DieHard, two months left on the 3yr warranty. :):):)
Swapped it out in the parking lot.
When this one fails Sears may not be around by then.

About 2.5-3.0 hours, it was very fustrating because nothing was making sense. At first I was wondering if a harness had melted together somewhere.
I used to fish stuff out of the VCR at home like this. After disassembling more than once I found at least one Barney straw in there, who knows what all else.

In between ordering business liability ins, obtaining a EIN and designing business cards and veh magnets I changed the oil in my daughter's Civic and cut my mother's grass.

Alternator check ok?

Yes replaced that three years ago with the new battery when daughter was at UNC Charlotte.
Looked at my tire receipt, I've had the Eagles on the car for 55K, they look almost new,
I'm a lot better at tire rotation these days, gone are the $70 tire sales.

Replacing the p/s pump on my '99 Taurus tomorrow, would have done it today but battery time.

Found a dirt scoop on CL. Been looking at them at Agri-Supply for a year, would be over $300 with tax. This is the same one, barely used, for $200.

Going to pick it up this morning. Will post a pic later.

Fyi do not pull the dump lever with it unhooked. If you stand clear. Made that mistake on one my grandad had when I was a kid and luckly was far enough away it didn't get me and it was also not fun geting it back up and latched so you can hook it up.

That one reminds me of a Plymouth I once had. I read somewhere that you could get the radio to play without putting the key in the ignition by turning on the emergency flashers, and the left turn signal, then stepping on the brake. Being young and dumb I tried it. Fortunately, it worked (in today's cars I would be too suspicious that this was some kind of hack that would blow up the computer). Somebody must have had a wiring diagram and way too much time on his hands to figure that one out.

This is how I got it. The cover is off the locking bar. I removed the shelves on the door, the 4 adjustable shelving supports off the sides, and the 6 compartments overhead (I only had keys to the 3 on the left so the 3 on the right were useless - I still have the 3 locks, nice cam locks if someone has a need for them). It’s 1” plate, inside height is 5’, weighs 3800 lbs, has a TL30 rating (meaning that during testing/certification two guys with tools (anything but torches) couldn’t breach it within 30 minutes), but it has no fire rating. I’ll add sheetrock to the inside to get a little fire protection.

The interior welds for the little storage boxes were shit. Once I cut out enough material to get a piece to wiggle it would just break free. The 10lb sledge and 16lb San Angelo bar helped.

Gutted
