3 coats rolled with the last one drying. The edging, trim, and doors up next.

Best get that floor epoxied while it's cleaned out.

I wanted to do mine, but that'll never happen

I called a company today to see how much it will set me back. I have plenty of storage space so the garage will just have the cars in it.

This is my inspiration minus the window. I also need to upgrade my lights in here to a led 4 ft’er

Do it!!!! You won't regret it at all.

Garage and baseboard painted. Now time to do the door trim & doors. Round 2 starts tomorrow

Xterra work...
Cut some 1/4" steel and started on a winch mount bumper.
Uprights.

Winch shelf in place. The shelf is one piece. There is upward fairlead mount and a downward full length "tab"built into it. They were bent into shape.

Now...I don't know how to weld. So I am at a standstill until I figure something out. LMAO!

Needed a new toolbox for the workshop.

I recently picked up the 5-drawer US General cart. Awesome value with this line. I cannot believe the prices they are asking on the ICON stuff!

Just finished replacing shocks on my truck. Rancho 5000x

I put Rancho RS5000X shocks with BDS springs on my TJ Wrangler a couple years ago. They rode really nice for both wheelin and regular driving.

Unfortunately some yahoo on his smart phone rear ended me and totaled that Jeep.

Got around to changing out the Cruze's PVC valve @$64. Good thing it comes with a new valve cover! (Stupid engineering)

1hr to remove, clean, 2 spots of RTV, and torque to 71in/lbs, 15 more min to attach hoses and harness.

I did not have an adapter to step up a 1/4" torque wrench to 3/8" T10 socket. Found that an 8mm socket fits a E10 star bolt!

Update: After letting the RTV set I was able to start and take it for a 20 mile trip. No CEL, no service traction control, no idle stumble, shifts are smooth again.

Replaced the high side QC on my Robinair a/c set and recharged my '99 Taurus wagon.

Been crazy busy on other projects. Got the first coats of paint on the doors and trim. Looks crisp and really nice even with the one coat.
I got a quote for epoxy person out of Greenville. I didn’t really like the numbers but it may be going rate. It just seems like a lot but I guess when you’re asking for your garage floor to be epoxied they can get you on price.

started pressure washing the house today
I need a male-male adapter so I can use the extension, but I got about 75% of the house done.
This back side, north facing, was the bad side, the others werent bad, but you can see the difference here.

Im freaking exhausted.

Ok - I got a quote from someone else with fantastic reviews. They said for a standard size garage 20x20 I’d be looking at $2k with it taking one day.

This is more inline with what I had in mind. The other person started at $3500 and said my garage floor would probably need extra cleaning/prep. This would cost me $4k total

That seems very high. I know a friend of mine got a quote a few months ago for 250 for a 'double car' garage, but one on the smaller side

I realize they'll get it done in one day, but those kits/materials arent very expensive + labor costs

You can do all the prep if you want

I'm looking at coating/sealing the shop floor when it's had plenty of time to dry out. It's an expensive thing to have done, if the 2k includes the cost of the etchant, primer/sealer, base coat, color flakes and top coat that's prob not too bad at all.

If you're just going to go old school epoxy that takes 12 hours to harden then you can do it yourself pretty easily. There's all kinds of youtube videos on how to prep the surface, how to apply the layers, etc.
Unless you're going with the polyaspartic stuff it seems to be pretty forgiving as long as you don't have moisture still wicking out of the slab or oil in the slab. Plenty of places sell it as kits with the squeeges, spiked shoes, mixing buckets, etc, all shipped on one pallet.

The main drawback with the polyasparitc is how quick it hardens, but I've seen a couple companies that sell a thinner to slow down how quick it dries to be more like 2-3 hours to give you time to work a larger area if you're new to it.

There is also a couple places that do a more traditional epoxy primer, base, color and then a polyaspartic clear/top coat so that you only have to worry about the last coat of clear.

Need to be very clear on the coatings they use when you start comparing people, you can spend $2 a sq ft or you can spend $20 a sq foot, sure some of it is markup, but a lot of the difference is UV resistance, abrasion resistance, does it have anti-slip in it, how thick of a coating it will dry to, etc.

I am ok with 2k to have it done by a business. 4K absolutely not.

My manager at my IT job had a company do his garage, similar sized for $2K. Looks like the floor at a NASCAR shop.

2k is turnkey for everything

My wife thinks I’m crazy to pay 2k for something to park my car on. I’m pretty excited about it on the other hand.

Workshop clean out is coming along just fine. I can see the floor now from not having boxes everywhere. I need to keep myself from being distracted on new projects before I finish up the old ones.

Current list:
  • Organize everything on the counters
  • Paint workshop
  • Put in more lights
  • Degrease & clean workshop cabinets
  • put a new top on the cabinets :|
  • Paint workshop cabinets (I am thinking dark gray or black)
  • Paint interior doors
  • Put some type of mat flooring down in the workshop
