What Did You Do In The Garage Today?

Replaced the idle and tensioner for the serpentine belt on my '99 Taurus wagon, was in there approx 90k, developed a squeek the other day, had the parts for the water pump swap I planned on for another day along with the timing chain swap and new cover gasket. Better in the driveway then on the highway. :)

2wd axles are completely out, 4wd swing arms are hanging there waiting for it's hookup with dana, and the bluetop steering box is swapped in.

That's enough for today as storms are rolling in. Really hate not having a garage to work in.

  • Paint workshop cabinets (I am thinking dark gray or black)

Just a word of caution black shows ever nick and scuff bad, we had a door painted black at the office and it was a monthly touch up project until they decided to cover it with diamond plate from people walking threw with boxes in there hands and brushing against jt.

I ended up going with a gray shade of navy on the left.

Press worked great, u joints went in slicker than whale snot. Way better than beating the piss out of them like i had to to get them out.

Bushing came right out too. Why didn't i get one of these years ago?

Now upgrade to an air over hydraulic jack. A 20 or 30t air/hydro be my next upgrade for mine, no more pump pump pump pump.

I BEAMS ready to come out. @hp468 may remember this tranny from jeffros party

Lookin good, is the back on stands or did you gain that much lift with the new blocks? 4" blocks?

Your in the short rows now, track bar, a few bolts, linkage, driveshaft, and bleed the brakes. Done.

I really should stay focused and I’d be further alone. I painted one cabinet because I wanted to see what it looked like on a bigger area. First coat and I don’t even miss the weird pink hue cabinet on the right.

Its very easy for me to become unfocused when painting but really easy when it comes to cabinets.

I can roll walls for hours, I can also roll cabinets for hours. What I drag my butt on is trim work and I’m even worse with doors. I still have 3 doors to trim out but yet I get distracted by cabinets, organizing the new tools, or figuring out what else I should sell.

I'm keeping my eye out for a super coupon, until then my assistant will have to do.

IIRC it's a F350 chassis, so that would explain the 4" blocks

Need to swap in the spring mounts too, because of course those have to be different

Both sets of spring mounts are off, pita even with a grinder and air hammer. But really thats the last big piece for this front axle. Everything else bolts up.

New riffraff diesel hot side boots on today too. Apparently the 10yr old stock ones didn't like hitting 25lbs of boost pulling the camper up the hill.

Had 5 mins in between meetings. I roll another door. Really digging this color. Now I just need to figure out how to put new cabinet tops on.

That's almost identical to the color we painted our radio room. What color are you painting the walls?

Nothing that will fill your britches faster than blowing a boot on a 25-30psi run. I couldn't keep my riffraff boots on initially, aquanet saved the day.

Walls are colonial revival gray. Same color in the pics above.

Moved my freezer to another wall. Surprisingly difficult since I had to move all the stuff that was there before then put in an outlet for it.

And I bought some sakcrete and left in the back of my truck and let it get rained on.

I had planned to install the steering bushings on the 4 wheeler that were guaranteed to be delivered today that didn't show up.

Finished building this dust collector setup. I had something similar before but this setup using PVC legs set into the OEM caster feet is really slick. Minus the vacuum it ended up costing me just shy of $100, $50 for the dustopper itself, more than I expected but well worth not clogging up my filter with saw dust constantly.

Still need to grab a hole saw and drill holes in the plywood top for the accessories.

Rebuilt a spa cabinet, or at least the structural part of it, moved spa to pad, and filled. Diagnosed a misfire on a towncar, found the sparkplug hole full of coolant (yay leaking intake gasket), will be ruling out bad coil tomorrow. Repaired 4x cables on the rear doors of the ole lady's Ranger. Gotta love those suicide doors that break at the most inconvenient time.

Tomorrow 2x oil changes and tire rotations, maybe a brake job, replace a run of LMR400 to get my HF station back online (decided to destroy it with the lawnmower:mad:), maybe run electrical for the spa, and maybe, just maybe clean up the mess from all of this.. I ain't supposed to be working this hard on my days off.

Starting cleaning up and organizing ...again. Lost the bolt to my 13.5# 30BR for about 4 hrs. Found it. Lost a trigger pin to one of my Remy 700's. Took a break, came back in an hour and found it with a flash light. I have an anti-fatigue mat in front of my work bench and when stuff hits that, it gives it a crazy bounce.

Still dicking around with the winch hanger/bumper for my Xterra. I have my prototype mounted up and I like it. I did the welding myself after I got some fresh 1/8" rod. I was practicing with some old stuff that was opened a while back. It was tough to use! I modded the design a little bit to get rid of most of the bend points and went with a notch/groove setup. I also elongated the frame mounting bolt holes horizontally. I'm going to have a real welder weld up the next one.

I tested my pipe bender with some shortish scrap at the shop. It turned into JUST barely being long enough for some frontal coverage. I may play around with the tube part some more. Maybe do angled uprights from low center up to the bar for some support.

I'll have it powder coated when I'm done tinkering with it. lol.

In the place of in most cases unless you have a severe issue of one tha you cant get to balance

Designed for tractor trailers initially

Well I apparently live under a rock... never heard of them but based on their website claims they would have saved me some headache on the 35s I was running.

Id never heard of them before and ran across them while researching balancing beads. Chose these as they install easier.

Not the garage, but went to the Pull-A-Part in WS this morning
Didnt find anything I was hoping to get, but thats how I spent my Sunday morning

Pretty cool project. I take it the front frame rails are exactly the same, just different bolt on parts?

The entire truck is pretty much the same. Super duty's roll off the line with the holes drilled, wiring harnesses etc. They're then built based on model (xlt, lariet, etc), and customer options.

I made this out of 3/8" soft.

Way way harder than I thought it should have been .
