What did you do in the reloading room today?

Got in on the MiHec .357 aluminum 8 cav group buy over at castboolits so I should have a bit more to post shortly

Installed my new auto drum to replace my auto disk so that I can reliably drop 3.4gr of titegroup.

I did make little nylon bushings for the auto disk and it was working pretty well but figured what the heck, the auto disk will work better for my 45 loads and now I won't have to swap powder measures around when changing calibers on my Lee turret.

1st I wrote a howdy, then I posted some questions. Later in the day I took a trip down to Iron station and picked up some goodies. Some powder, some bullets, and a heaping bucket of 9mm casings. The first run of casing in the tumbler now. Tomorrow will be more cleaning, a trip to get some totes, and if all goes as planned, greating the mail man when he brings my new Lee Load Master!

Oh and much of the day trying to figure out what in the heck some of you are talking about! LOL

Since last time I posted, I've loaded about 1200 rounds split between 45 and 9mm. But, tonight, I sized, trimmed and chamfered some new Starline 460 S&W brass I just bought. I'll soon be making some loads for a new revolver that I call "Boomer". :D

Went to size some 155gr TCs I coated to .356.
Started to change out the H&I die when a spring came flying out...
Picked it up and realized my 3yo hadn't just been merrily pulling handles the other day, he'd been merrily smashing a Glock extractor spring... yay kids.

Last night I used 615 grains of powder, for just 15 rounds. Handgun loads, too! I created ladder loads for my 460 S&W, the max charge was 43 grains of Alliant 2400, behind a Hornady 200gn FTX bullet. Should be good for ~ 2100 fps.

casted some more 200 RNFP .358s for the .35 Rem, and cast a few 250 Keith .430s for the .44 carbine that I need to fix the stock on.

Oh and bought 110 mixed headstamp .35 Rem brass for $40 shipped elsewhere on the interwebs. that is like winning a scratch-off ticket folks :D

Peeked inside ammo cans to figure out what was in them, and then actually labeled them.

Checked the mail

loaded up some 230gr 45 loads for next weeks match! I'll be shooting production with my HK 45c. Anybody have any 10 round mags they want to loan me?:D

I also loaded 500 rounds of .40 for when my gun comes back. I loaded them a little hotter than my normal load, should be around a 178PF

Loaded my first small batch of 45.

200gr RMR plated
4.7gr Titegroup
mixed brass
S&B LPP
1.250" oal

They were much softer shooting than the factory S&B 230gr stuff I had and surprisingly accurate in my new RO Operator. Pretty lucky to find a perfect load on my first try.

Holy Sh!t !!

I think that would kill an intruder by heart attack even better than an M44 carbine! A directional (sort of) flash bang. Awesome. I won't shoot it though. Or be at ground zero when you do.

I recently met a dude who did his CCP class with a 4" 460 with factory loads.
He said it cost him $100 for 50 rounds. He played it off like it was no biggie but I imagine there was some regret to be found at about round 3 or so!

Walked into the loading room, pulled the handle 4 or 5 times on the 550. I thought...nah don't feel like doing this. Then I pulled the handle 4or5 times on the 650 and thought maybe later.

I guess he's compensating ;)

LOL. My unloader has a muzzle brake, so a big portion of the flash and bang comes back. Just ask @Bullseye Baldee . It would bust the eardrums of anyone in the room, that is for sure!

I ended up not shooting the highest loads. I quit at the 40 grain level, was getting about 1920fps. Not as hot as the factory loads, but still a good stout load.

Found the 'How to Lubricate Your 550B' on the Dillon website. After owning and using my 550B for almost 30 years, I actually gave it a complete lube job. Took all of 10 minutes. Actually made a difference. Some of those little squeaks went away,

Sorted brass for about an hour. I really need to get another bucket. Would not have to sort as often. Also ordered a Pietta Spiller and Burr Revolver .36 caliber from Dixie Gun Works. Its nice having internet now in the load shed.

Hey fellows, I for one would like to learn the procedure you go through to powdercoat these bullets. Anyone care to maybe make a post on a "How to"

Got tired of the smoke

So I took these

Melted the lube off of them to get this

View attachment 16166

Powdercoated them

Baked for 20 minutes and got this

And will test 200 of these this weekend in Spartanburg

I was thinking you must've gone to lubed lead last time I saw you shoot.

The smoke doesn't bother me, but the questions about it tend to.

They came out nice. For the powder coating what temp oven do you have to use?
I run mine at 400 (according to the knob) for 20.

@upnover I'll start something in the casting subforum. No pics cause I did some last night and won't again for a undetermined time.

Since I'm stuck at home on medical leave...I've loaded thousands of 9mm...and every 223 case I could dig up. Now I'm reduced to shooting a couple hundred a day...so I can clean the cases and load them again that night.

I got 556 cases if you need some.

Hope you heal up soon.

Cleaned up my reloading room and reorganized it. Tumbled about 3k of .40 brass. Loaded up another couple hundred lucky 13 190gr bullets then I loaded 20 rounds each of 4.7, 4.8, and 4.9 clean shot behind a 180gr Zero bullet.
