This was covered with a rubber thing. Guess some briars or honeysuckle pulled it off when I was busy hogging the farm given how much there was not too much of a surprise. Tractor is a ford 1510 two wheel drive diesel model. I shoved an old shirt into the hole for now, to keep water out but not sure if I lost gear oil or what the port is for. Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like an inspection plug? But not 100% sure

Inspection port for your spurving bearings. They appear to be in line with the panametric fan so everything's looking good.

Honestly I can't tell if those are made up words or not. :)

Do I need grease or oil in there though. My manual seems to not include this section.

Maybe somebody can 3D print you a plug. I have no experience so no idea if flexible parts can be printed.

In all seriousness it's an inspection port. It doesn't retain any lube it's just a dust cover.

When I've lost things like that I usually slap some gorilla tape over it if a replacement plug isn't cheap and readily available.

Agree with others inspection hole or adjustment hole many smaller tractors have them in the bell housing Around the clutch area. Should not be any oil or fluid in it but wouldn't hurt to have some type of cover to keep crude out.

I was wondering what Ford is yellow, then I saw the original blue around the edges of the opening.

Just make sure your Finnagin pin isn't bent, or corroded before you close that up, this is the one with the four speed ashtray right?
