I’m posting this in the Veteran forum because I think I sort of know but I’m looking for verification. This is a pewter(?) anchor with chinese dragons engraved on the flukes and “Tsing Tao China 1948” on the shank. It was part of my dad’s fob collection and my best guess is it’s a Marine souvenir from their time in Tsing Tao (‘45-‘49).

My dad was an army man and afaik nobody in my family served in the Marines.

So:
1) can ya’ll confirm/debunk my theory and
2) does anyone want it?

There was a ton of locally-made souvenirs in China during the US military presence pre/during/post-WWII. It was the western Pacific HQ for the Marines, so a souvenir from a Marine's tour is as good a guess as any. The Navy was in and out of there quite a bit, too. You can contact the Museum of the Marine Corps (Quantico) or any of the regional museums to see if they want it.
