What press do you have?

I have a Hornady lock and load single stage, but I've been itching to get a Lee progressive to go along with it. I shoot a lot of 38 special and 44 mag, and I'd love to speed that reloading process up some.

just go to the lock and load AP instead

I have an old RCBS partner press that was given to me that I started out on. I did the single stage bit for a couple of years, and while it was slow, I learned the basics on it. I found a good deal on a used Dillon 550B that I use most frequently now. I still sometimes use the single stage for working up a new load. I’ve never used a Lee or a Hornady, but I’ve been very satisfied with Dillon so far as quality of product and service so I just don’t have any wish to try anything different.

Lyman AA press i use to decap and sometime size. Then a Lee classic turret. Not sure what press will be next, maybe a 650 just hate to spend that much on caliber conversions.

I'm still using a Lee turret press with the shell plates. I had a Dillon but I sold it since I never used it. I handload rifle ammo and weigh each individual charge. I load about a thousand rounds a year for 7 different rifle calibers. With the Lee I can switch calibers in a about 10 seconds and start loading. I was looking at the Redding turret press but each individual shell plate is about $100! So to switch would cost me over a $1,000! If I do my part my old Lee will crank out sub moa ammo all day long. I just worked up a load for one of my rifles that will put 5 rounds in less than 1/2 inch at 100 yards. With a Lee press and Lee dies. I think that is pretty amazing!

It arrived, it arrived! But....they screwed up at the factory and forgot the case feed rod....called Lee and it goes out tomorrow.

Took some time, after watching Gunblue on YouTube, he has a awesome setup video, and set it up as he recommended as well as did some polishing of the shell plate and fins inside there. This thing is already runnung smooth! I'm happy so far.

Pardon my mess....been hell week getting ready for my son's 13th bday party.

Dillon 650
Lyman Orange Crush Turret
Redding Turret
RCBS RC
MEC Marksman

I shoot mainly handguns. My Dillon SDB finally wore out after 30 years. Spent about $15 to mail it back to Dillon and they sent me a brand new press NO CHARGE. Their no questions warranty applies to the press forever regardless of who i sell or give it to.

I had a Rcbs rock chucker supreme but the ball was split down the middle, I returned it. I get this tomorrow:
Lee Cast Aluminum 4 Hole Turret Press with Auto Index Md: 90932

figured I would learn the basics with this then graduate to a xl750 with case and bullet feeders etc...
Edit* just got notified that it is delayed a couple weeks dammit :(

I just picked up the new Lee APP press. Great for decapping brass, and I have the pocket swage kit ordered for it.

I’ve been running a Lee 4 hole turret press for the last 12 years. I don’t know how many thousands of rounds I have with it but it’s always served me well. It’s not the fastest but far from the slowest and Lee’s customer service is top notch.

If you load a lot of different calibers it’s easy to change set ups which helps some folks.

RCBS Rockchucker, and a Dillon 550B.

I started with a Lyman Spartan back in the 1960's and used it so much it became real loose. It is on a lower shelf somewhere in the barn. I now use what AR10 and Dickieray use and see no need for anything else at this time.

I load mostly wildcats and shoot them in single shot Contenders, so my needs differ from most. I have 2 Redding T-7, a Redding Boss, RCBS Pro 2000 ( It is in EX CON but I haven't even set it up-Probably make somebody a good deal on it if willing to pick up in Anderson,SC) and last but certainly not least a Redding Ultra Mag for when I need a little more LEVERAGE LOL
Safe shooting

I’ve been running the RCBS RS3 with a piggyback since the 80s for reloading. Using an RS2 for sizing/decapping and rifle. I’ve been pondering drinking the blue kool-aid for a while now. I never seem to be in the right place at the right time to score a good deal on the forum. Day late, yup. I’ve narrowed it down to a 650 or 750.

I have 2 650’s. My nephew got the 750 same thing except the primer delivery system. After setting his up and using it. I will stick with the 650. I like the primer system better on the 650’s

Lee Challenger and Lee hand press. Also have a Classic Turret that I bought from another member a couple years ago that I’ve never used. Maybe it’s time to set it up.

Do yourself and get the update kit for the Disc measure you're using there. It IS a step up, in my opinion.

This thread made me stop and think. My first press, in the mid-70's was a Rock Chucker. It served me well for many, many years, and I still have it. But my press inventory has grown:
1) 2 rock chuckers
2) Redding Ultramag
3) Lyman T-Mag
4) Lyman All-American
5) 2 Dillon 550's
6) a bunch of Lee's, including the APP, ABLP and 2 Load-Masters

About half are mounted; I need a dedicated reloading room set up. Wife got house in divorce earlier this year, some of you may be able to relate. Now working on buying a house so reloading and shooting are sort of on the back burner....

Lee Classic turret. I only load pistol and have seperate turrets for 9mm, 45 acp and 38 sp. It's a quick swap and I've loaded many thousands of rounds. It was cheap and it's been good to me. It's not as fast as a progressive but I'm not shooting competition so I have time to load what I shoot.

I also have a Rock chucker and a cheapo Lee single stage I use mostly for depriming.

I was 65 before I got into reloading. Started with the Lee Classic Turret, set up for 9mm. I have added turrets and dies for .45ACP, .45 Colt, .380ACP, .357 mag, .38 Special and finally .40 SW. And the necessary shell holders. And three more Pro Auto Discs, three Lee Auto Drums, Universal de-priming die, Bulge Busters for .45ACP and .40 S&W. I prime on the press and yes I have an occasional dropped primer. The Auto Index has worked great. This equipment has provided me with a lot of shooting pleasure.

I then got a Hornady L-n-L AP press. I found I had just as soon use the LCT. Nothing wrong with it, but I sold the Hornady and got my money back. Then a used Lee 1000. It was well used. I never got much out of it. Sold it.

Three years ago my deceased BIL left me his Dillon SDB. It had been used HARD. I sent it to Dillon and got back a basically new SDB! I only reload for handguns, so this press is the cat's meow for me. Faster than the LCT. I still need Caliber Conversion Kits for .380, and .38 Special so I don't have to mess with the .357 dies and two Toolhead assemblies. Six more powder drop assemblies are out of the question! Caliber changes are much faster on the LCT.

If I were to purchase a new (or used) press today, it would be a Dillon 650, or 750. Auto indexing is very important to me! When I pull the handle, then raise it up, that stations work is done.

I have a Dillion 550, Lee Classic Turret Press, Lee Classic Single Stage, MEC Size Master 12GA, MEC Grabber 12GA, MEC 650 20GA, MEC 600 16GA. Also, got a MEC Steel Master in 10GA need to sell.

Lee 4 hole turret as my primary, Lee Classic single stage as my secondary, and Lee APP for mass depriming dirty brass and cast bullet sizing.

Hornady C-press (whatever it’s called) for decapping and swaging. Hornady AP turret press for handgun. Forster Co-Ax for rifle.

I bought my first reloading press in 1981. It was the original 3 hole LEE turret press. It's still my primary press:

I upgraded it years ago with the 4 hole conversion when it came out. Still using the same LEE pistol die sets I bought at the same time.

So I am really cheap and for years I resisted - 3 years ago I purchased a Dillon 650. If you value your time at all and like Tom avoid frustration dealing with endless random problems - after a few years you wont even remember the extra couple hundred dollars you spent

I recently bought a Rockchucker single stage for my service rifle hobby. It's everything I need for rifle rounds, slow and methodical, kinda meditative to be honest. Got this instead of a yoga mat lol
