So I have this rarely used Beretta CX-4 Storm sitting in my safe. I am trying to decide if it is worth modifying it or just selling it and maybe getting a CZ Scorpion, lol.

Folks with the CX-4, have you done any modifications to them? Do you shoot them much or are they like mine, just hanging out in the safe? What sort of shooting do you like to do with them?

I have one I've SBRd and replaced the trigger and guide rod with Sierra Papa parts. It's fun to shoot and I've shot a couple of competitions with mine.

I don't know what the resale market would be for one. You'd need to find a Beretta fan who just wants a carbine that takes the same mags as their pistol.

I consider mine just a range toy.

I might, I say I just MIGHT be interested in buying one of these. If you are going to sell, I will run out and rent one to see.

I would be interested in selling. Let me know what you think after you rent one. Or if you are ever in CLT, I'll be happy to let you shoot it.
I have 5-6 magazines for it too.

I shoot my CX-4 at least once a month, no mods, enjoy hitting the steel at Frontline Defense.
I'll shoot it more often now that I picked up a gently used 92FS compact.

I enjoy mine, still all stock. I shoot it just a little more than the rest which ain't all that much.
I have mine in a sort of go bag along with a Beretta 96 a few mags some extra ammo a knife etc.
There was one on some other forum, a guy was trying to sell but he had cut the sight towers off of it, I'd advise against that.

Like @Mikew says, Do no mods that you can't take back. People don't want one that has been bubba'd.

I might be interested if the price is right. any interest in my FR-8?
I would definitely try to find a fair price for this if I do sell it. No interest in the FR-8, thank you though.
I should probably mention it is a 9mm too.

I have Papa Sierra trigger and internals and a threaded muzzle. That's about it. I love mine, it's so no-nonsense and boringly reliable. The sights aren't great but you can ring steel with them all day long. I have a dot I mount sometimes but the irons are more fun. I shoot mine about every time I go shooting, especially at the local indoor range where big boy rifles aren't allowed.

Honestly, the Scorpion has a lot going for it that the CX4 doesn't (pistol grip, flat top rail, better sights, Threaded muzzle from the factory, etc.), but the Beretta has it beat in one category- magazines. If you buy an EVO, you've got either plastic mags or plastic mags to choose from, and while they're cheap, I've seen a couple people online report they give up the ghost if you use them heavily.
Metal B92 mags are just about bomb proof, and I look forward to the Army dumping all their old ones when the Sig contract really takes off.

Is yours 92 or PX4 mags? If it's 92 and I could tempt you with a trade, I'd almost be interested in a second one to do something ridiculous with.

Over on the Canadian forum. I think he's still trying to sell that one. Shame he butchered it.

I believe it is 92 mags. That was one of the selling points all those years ago... I think. ;)

Either of you have, tried or know anyone with all the Sierra Pappa upgrades? Looks like well over $600 if you wanted to do the trigger/hammer/spring kit, plus the guide rod/buffer/link along with that aluminum housing! No idea if that aluminum housing is worth the money, but it sounds interesting. ;) I guess the commonly cited downside to these is plastic internals?

I have the hammer/trigger/spring upgrades, and it makes for a much better trigger pull. I didn't see a need for the rest.

Like charliesgrave, I have the complete trigger/hammer upgrade (and guiderod). The metal trigger group housing was (initially) a response to a batch of CX4s that were experiencing cracks in the housing from the factory. I don't have the alu housing and would personally only consider it if the CX4 was going to be a primary defense weapon.

The Beretta Forum is a great resource for CX4 info. TBF member mr rogers runs Sierra Papa and is very active on the forum. He'll answer any questions as well as a wealth of knowledge from other members.
