Whatizzit?

Dangit, I used to see a ton of these in Yadkin and surroundingā€¦theres a name for them, but danged if I can place it..

Yā€™all look close at the ā€œflashersā€ mounted on the bumper of the closest doodlebug in the pic. There are red bulbs in the tips/nips that flash intermittently.šŸ¤£
LOL, and the cultivator points for the seat back! Man that looks fun.

@dlee12 , you canā€™t see it good in that pic but look at the top of the steering wheel. He cut down a bunch of horseshoes and welded them together To make the steering wheel.
Thought thats what those were! It gets better the more you look at it.

Short Dogs, Hoover Tractors, and Hoopties are other names for them. @HawgBonz , there used to be a lot up there. My Father in law took the 2 in the pic I posted for several years. He had a display for over 40 years with various hit and miss engines heā€™d restored. 2019 was his last year going, dementia...He was a mechanical genius but now he doesnā€™t know what a screwdriver is. Hereā€™s a pic of the steering wheel he fabā€™d outta horseshoes...

Least he's left some "monuments" for the rest of us to appreciate.

Well, Ol Joe crossed the river a little over a week ago so now the wife has 2 doodlebugs for me to work on. We will be keeping the one in the earlier pic with the horseshoe steering wheel. I gotta get the black one back in shape and will probably sell it. Been spending this week sorting through everything and moving some stuff. Got 3 Model A engines and small parts scattered everywhere šŸ˜IMG_0054.jpeg
