Where do regular people shop for produce here? I'm looking for bell peppers that don't cost $4.99 .
I'm used to having produce based grocery stores that were European (descent) owned nearby. The Italian market would sell red bell peppers for $.99 per pound. Tomatoes on the vine for $2. They'd practically give away onions and garlic.
These places would make their money on everything else in the store, but produce was of very high quality and CHEAP. Anything like that here?

well.......they're not in season yet so everything you get is coming off a truck. I'd check Harris Teeter, Lidl, Food Lion and Aldi in that order for fresher produce in offseason. In season just go to the downtown farmer market on Saturdays or make friends with a gardener, or start your own garden in containers etc. I doubt you'll find anything close to .99 bell peppers at any time honestly. Tomatoes are cheap in the summer.

You're close to Pageland, S.C. Like was said, produce is seasonal. S.C. is consumer friendly, but you'll have to wait a couple months.

Loved a little Italian deli in Park Ridge, but that was 25 years ago.

There's a good international market, Super G, on E. Independence Blvd my wife shops at. Next to Carmax and Toyota. Japanese and Korean produce. But I'm sure it's all shipped in this time of year.

Fresh Market usually has good produce. Having said that, the best is in season when the farmers market is open.

Aldi's produce is always reasonably priced and good quality. Watch weekly specials. Last week avacados were $.39/ea. That said, some of the produce is bagged. I don't buy if I cannot touch and choose individually.

Asian markets usually have fresh produce with decent pricing. I am fortunate to have a couple of options relatively close to me.
