Which 1911 in 9mm?

Fusion is Bob Serva who was the one who re-opened Dan Wesson and then sold it to CZ. The Fusion guns have been very hit or miss. If you get on that runs it is great if not it is a headache. I am interested to hear what you think of the Freedom line.
Interesting. I will be able to shoot one at Deep River, but not the one I may or may not buy.

Are you hearing of a specific issue?

There were a lot of teething issues when his non-compete ended and he started up Fusion. The word is he moved to FL and got more people working for him and is building better guns. Early guns had all kinds of feeding and fit and function issues. They were all over the place.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, and I'm still pretty irate at SA right now for the backing of gun control in their home state, but the EMP 4 in either concealed or champion edition is one fine weapon.
Granted it's not a 'standard' 1911 as everything has been enhanced, micro-nized, and skeletized for weight and slimness, but the ones I have held felt like a custom made 1911 in my hands.

One of the best "1911 style" 9mms I have shot right there. I just want one full sized. I wish SA made one configured like I want.

I wish they didn't disappoint me by being dbags and then retracting it instead of owning it (heretofore forever known as 'pulling a Yeti') http://blog.gunlink.info/2017/05/02...mage-control-after-gun-control-bill-exposure/

I'll never own another SA product again. My wife carries an XDS9 and when she actually decides she wants to try something different, that thing is gone.

My RIA ULTRA caused me to sell my springfield black stainless target as the $600.00 RIA out shot the $1200.00 springfield it just was not a pretty so the springfield just sat in the safe for a long time
I handled a used one next to the Springer 9mm RO yesterday. I have never read a bad review on the RIA 9mm 1911, and I read a bunch of them last year.

Mark has an STI in 9mm he said you could try out. He likes it.

I don't believe they make them anymore, unless he's planning on selling his.

I have a Range Officer in .45 and it's a very good shooter. Probably need to look at the Springers some more.
I believe STI quit making the Trojan, but I am sure there are some out there.
Ive had a few springers. Im a SA man. I have a Kimber Tactical Entry in my nightstand, but want to trade it for an Operator. I dont think you can get better for looks and price.

I'm gonna call Springfield today. The Range Officer model (which I already have in .45, and like) comes in three configurations for 9mm that all have the features I want (besides the trigger guard undercut), just not on the same gun.

I'm sure they could assemble an RO outfitted like I want since those parts are sitting there in bins for that particular gun anyway. The question is, will they.

Maybe, but you might not like the price..
Probably.

Their Custom Shop stuff is priced in Wilson territory, but is all hand fitted, etc, etc.

I just want them to assemble the Legos differently from their standard offering. I'll report back.

He doesn’t know what he wants.
Negative, ghost rider. I know exactly what I want. Put your spectacles on and read the first post old man. ;)

Just got off the phone with SA Custom shop.
The answers to my questions were very polite and informed, but what you see on their website is what you get, including the Custom shop, nothing more, nothing less.

Me: "question"
Them: "No"
Me: "Next question"
Them: "No"
Me: "Third question"
Them: "No, management won't allow us to do any of that."

Edit: To their credit they did point out that I probably couldn't just drift in a Novak adjustable LoMount rear sight in place of the standard low profile sight for Novak cut because there "might be" an extra cut for the adjustable sight. (not Bomar style either)

Maybe you should just take one of the classes custom builders sometimes offer and build your own. If you have the time and inclination that could be fun. Then when you have a few FTF or FTE issues you can go home and make mean faces in the mirror.

Having successfully fit some quality 1911 parts on two different pistols that involved cutting the frame on one of them, the thought of actually building one from parts or a kit horrifies me.

Yeah I always get ideas like that from time to time, then I wake up at 3 AM in a cold sweat and ask myself what the heck were you thinking?

Even though the 1911 has been around a lot of years, different grades of parts from even the same vendor like Wilson are way different.

i.e. Their standard thumb safety requires more fitting for a Colt than you can imagine, while the "BulletProof" version of that Wilson part is totally different and practically drops in.

For a 9mm project you then run into the fact that every ejector you see in a production 9mm 1911 is different, so who has any idea what will work if you don't really know what you are doing, like an experienced 1911 pistol smith. Getting it to fit freely is one thing, like a grip safety, or thumb safety, but getting the pistol to feed, run, and eject properly? That's way above my pay grade.

I want to do Garthwaite's 1911 build class. It is pricey but you end up with a gun that is worth as much as you paid for the class and the knowledge to trouble shoot and build others.

I'll add my two cents, and jump on the ria ultra band wagon, i probably have 30 1911s from Colt to Kimber, but the Ria's I own will shoot with any of the pricer models, I like the cs ultra model so much I have a new one in the safe in case the original suffers a catastrophic failure, but after thousands of rounds the original is still running fine.

Can’t.
Just had one eye all cut up and they won’t let me wear my contact in the other.
So I’ll just have to go on past experiences. :p
Did they fix it? I just went to the eye doc yesterday and was happy to learn he can fix mine with a laser instead of surgery like the other one.

It hurts, it’s sore, it won’t stop watering, I’m half blind, so it’s hard to tell.
