Which 1911 in 9mm?

Call Armscor and talk with them they fitted a 10mm barrel to my 40 to make me a combo gun 40S&W/10mm http://armscor.com/support-center/contact-support/ they are good people and I think you will like their answers better than the answers you got at Springfield
Make no mistake, the RIA Ultra has exactly what I want in a 9mm 1911. But I have never found a new one anywhere close by, and I am somewhat of a, er, uh, oh what the hell, snob, and would like to find one that is just a little prettier to my eye, but it's still in the running.

You can shoot any of my SA 9mm Loadeds. Just ask.
Thanks Jim. I have no issue with Springfields at all, and own one. They just don't, and won't, configure one like I am looking for.

Yes my black stainless springfield was pretty but when the RIA ultra 45acp put all 7 shots touching each other at 15 yards the Rock stayed and the springfield went in 9MM I have a STI Trojan a RIA tactical and a STI Spartan V (made by RIA) Dawsons precision still has new Trojans 9MM in stock https://dawsonprecision.com/guns/sti/

Thanks. I was trying to remember who else stocked STIs and forgot about Dawson. Everyone seems to be putting the Bomar style rear sights on theirs. I was hoping to get the Novak style low profile rears, but I may have to flex. We'll see after I shoot the Fusion next week.

Just got off the phone with SA Custom shop.
The answers to my questions were very polite and informed, but what you see on their website is what you get, including the Custom shop, nothing more, nothing less.

Me: "question"
Them: "No"
Me: "Next question"
Them: "No"
Me: "Third question"
Them: "No, management won't allow us to do any of that."

Edit: To their credit they did point out that I probably couldn't just drift in a Novak adjustable LoMount rear sight in place of the standard low profile sight for Novak cut because there is an extra cut for the adjustable sight. (not Bomar style either)

Unfortunately, SACS dramatically cut back on the range of work they will do on their/customer-supplied pistols. In the past you could get them to do largely whatever you wanted.

Have you looked at 2011s? Any interest in going that route with 9mm to be different enough from the classic 45 1911?

Ladies and germs, I have chosen. Fusion Firearms, Freedom series, Reaction 1911 in 9mm. I am really jazzed about this new pea shooter

Slide to frame fit is excellent and smooth. Fit and finish of everything looks great. Extended slide release is a bonus, that also has a recessed hole on the other side of the frame to keep your trigger finger off the end of the slide release pin on reloads (Doh. Done it in a match.), smooth mag release, thumb safety feels good, checkered front strap standard. Comes with barrel bushing wrench, and extra 12 lb recoil spring.

Ed Strickland of Deep River in Sanford and I field stripped it to have a peek inside. Then I gave Ed a small stack of benjamins, and we ran a couple of mags through it. He's your source in eastern NC for these Fusion Firearms pistols, and runs a fine IDPA match on fourth Saturdays.

I realize I'll need to put a bunch more rounds downrange to make a more thorough assessment, but it put rounds right where I wanted them at 10 yards, and felt great while doing so. Very soft shooter. I'll probably put a different fiber in the front sight, add a magwell and be good to go.

That sexy range bag comes with it. Very nice touch.

Oh my.....

ramped barrel?

Ball park pricing?

how long of a wait to get in hand?

I asked the general question and it's my understanding that all components, pieces and parts are made in Venice FL. I can't speak to whether any parts at all are outsourced.

$795

I never wait for guns, but I waited about three weeks for this and glad I did. I understand they are selling them as fast as they can make them.

Oh, trigger pull is right at 4lbs.

...AND SPEAKING OF SLIDE LOCK RELOADS

Check out that slide release... (the finish looks better than this. I have the flash on top of it.)

You have to reach over the thumb safety which is kind of grippy and edgy to do a strong hand slide release. I will have to resist the urge to put a Wilson Bulletproof thumb safety on it.

That's gotta be good for at least a .5 on average.

LOL. It's actually quite uncomfortable to reach over the grippy thumb safety to engage it with the strong thumb.

In other news, ordered some Tripp's Cobra mags with the Dawson comp basepads, and a Smith and Alexander Mag guide. I should be GTG after I change that front fiber.

Hoping you enjoy it!

Whenever threads like these happen I feel like I get emotionally invested in peoples gun purchase search because for some reason I really want people to enjoy their competition guns, and feel horribly disappointed when they don't, heh!

It's like watching people shopping for new Porsches or something.

New fiber installed. Not as big as it looks. Same as Springfield's, which is where this came from.

I have a half dozen of the Tripp mags that have been flawless for many many dryfire and range sessions, and literally a few hundred matches (weekly for many years plus another one or two a month until I got the DVC Limited).

Dang you man! Dangling that carrot in front of my nose..... Good luck! I hope you enjoy!!!!

Got some new shoes for the kids. VZ Operator II. Very grippy for the summer. And an S&A "mag guide".

The extractor crapped out so I fit a Wilson Bulletproof extractor. I didn't like the ergos on the thumb safety so I fit an Ed Brown wide paddle "match" thumb safety. See the difference in the angle^^^? Feels better when riding the safety. Both took considerable fitting.

Looks almost as pretty as my Baer. Nice work.

Good job. I think my Springer safeties are somewhere in between the old and new. I do ride them with my thumb.

I changed my Range Officer's safety to a Wilson Bulletproof. I should have used that on this Fusion. It literally dropped into the Springer.

I'll end up putting a Dawson adjustable low mount rear sight on it before it is over. Like next week probably. It'll work best with the higher Dawson front sight I put on it.
