I’ve used CMMG LPK’s for a long time, always thought they were decent quality. I haven’t built a rifle in a year or so until this afternoon. Picked up the LPK and slapped it together - the kit just felt…less than before.

Plastic mag release button, roll pins seemed janky, trigger (even though I didn’t use it) had a particularly rough finish.

So, who makes a good LPK these days?

Schmid Inside, they’re the OEM for a lot of companies like BCM, Colt, FN, FCD, etc. companies like ALG (Geissele) also use them for their enhanced triggers. That is, if you want milspec quality in a good way.

I usually pick up a SOLGW blaster guts kit.

Sionics. I’m with you on CMMG lacking.

If I remember correctly, they are made by Schmid inside as well. They have the square S on a lot of the small parts.
Yeah. Most of the parts are Schmid, and I understand the pins are from KNS.

Last couple lpk I used was Anderson. With addition of some anti walk pins that I don't remember where they came from. For a basic "mil spec" lpk I haven't had any issues with Anderson.

I’ll usually use Aero, CMMG or DSG arms. I usually use an ALG FCG, Radian selector, and Seekins bolt catch/mag button, so I put the FCG/pins, bolt catch, magazine release button and selector in the spare parts stash.

I usually get an Anderson “oops Kit” for the little minor springs. Everything else I get individually since I have my preferences. Radian safety, CMC trigger, Geissele mag release and BAD enhanced takedown pins.

Dang! I was about to recommend cmmg, but it's been a while since I built out a full lower.

Solgw or bcm would have been my next recommendations. Bummer about cmmg though.

For basic milspec I've had fine luck with Anderson and PSA. Usually planning at the same time for an alg trigger as the included ones are all over the place but they do all work.

I usually pick up an aero kit or a CMC kit and they are that little bit nicer, smoother, cleaner, etc.

My understanding of most kits is they are made by the same few places and the end user is paying for the level of QC that customer specs and performs plus some "pay for the name" effect.
