Why do eF1's get processed so much faster the eF4's?

It seem the average wait time for eForm1 is around 45 days, vs the eForm4 that is at 260 days.

Because the ATF sucks

Because they're happy to let you quickly register a gun you already own.

But slow to give you access to anything fun that they can control.

Only data I could find is from 2020...The 2021 Report on Firearms Commerce in the U.S.

Form 1s 40,790

Form 4s 246,806


They did process 3,059,054 NFA firearms in 2022, but there was no breakdown as to which forms they were processed on.

I filed an eform 1 on January 2022 that came back in 10 days (and I had to mail my fingerprints in). That is my record, most took somewhere around a month.

I have only done one eform 4 so far. It was filed in late March 2022 and came back mid June 2022, 78 days total. Then it was looking like eform 4s were going to be the answer we were hoping for. Now, no so much.

I have a MG and Silencer I am waiting for form 3 approval on now so I can start the process with my dealer. Well, the silencer already there but the MG isn't and I'm waiting for both to arrive before submitting. The silencer is specifically for the MG so having it without the MG doesn't do me any good. I'm not looking forward to the wait on those, especially now with the brace fiasco.

I've heard about it and confess I haven't dug into the details, but what does this gain you vs doing it yourself in eForms?

probably easier fingerprints and somebody else handling all the paperwork. i dunno, maybe i'll find out.

It’s $50 not $5

I made it to checkout with SS and saw the price (hadn’t seen it til then) and deleted my order because I’ll read through the .Gov eform stuff for $50
