Why Do You Reload?

because factory ammo has cases that has shoulders that are bumped too far back ;)

and inconsistantly too, I might add

-accuracy tuning, my Sako went from 2.75" 5 round groups, to 0.388" with the first handloads I assembled.
-I like non-Walmart calibers- 7mm-08 (25 yrs ago), 6.5 Grendel, 300BLK sub & sonic
-fun experimentation, like what'll give me the biggest fireball from a 44 mag revolver?
Here's the first 6 rounds at 100 yrds through my 6.5 Grendel. The lower hole was the target for the following 5.

For pistols I can make more ammo for the same amount of money. For rifle, I can make more accurate ammo and more ammo for the same amount of money. I like to reload and experiment, it's a hobby that goes along with shooting.

Pure THERAPY ! I have my own loading shed which is insulated with heat/air and also a small fridg. No phone allowed. I do have my tablet with me in case I need to look up load data or get other information. It is my escape! As far as saving money at this point I do save pennies.

Because I don't wanna have to look at my wife/kids, shrug my shoulders and say, "Sorry...we're out."

F* that.

Started out making consistent ammo for precision rifle. All the other reasons are just a bonus.....I like loading my handgun rounds a little on the weak side too.

Started when I bought my first .41Mag. Have you seen the cost of factory .41 ammo? Instead of spending $35/20rd of Winchester Silvertips (175gr at "published" 1250), I was loading 215gr at 1350fps for less than $8/50rd. Hmmm. Shoot 200+ rds in a range session for the cost of 20rds of factory? No-brainer, especially now that I have 4 of 'em to feed. Then I realized I could load .45ACP for cheap & started feeding my 1911 for short dollars.

Both my Ruger Bisley .41s really like a 240gr Keith & hoping the new Blackhawk & Henry like 'em as well, as I'm getting ready to up the ante & load those over a healthy pour of 2400.

All the scares & shortages convinced me to stock up on powder, primers & projectiles. I haven't started loading for them yet, but I have turrets & dies for .357, 9mm, 6.8SPC & .30-30. Still need .45-70 dies & possibly .300Blk, tho I still haven't decided whether I want to stay with the .300Blk or go .277Wlv.

That sounds just like my setup. 12x20, wired and finished the inside, insulated, temp controlled year round. My escape, too.

In theory, to save money. In practice, so I can shoot more for the same money. That is saving money in a "round"-about way. Isn't it?
