For those that have put their hands on them why would someone want the 43x over the 48? When I first heard it was going to be released I was excited about the 43x because I loved the 43 other than capacity. However, the more I thought about it the 48 makes more sense. The grip is the hardest part to hide and for me the shorter slide of the 43 puts pressure on my hip that is less comfortable than a 4” slide. Also the 4” barrel is what most 9mm loads are testing with so you will get better ballistic performance out of the 48.

I am just trying to figure out if I am missing something here because I am going to get one or the other.

43x gives you better concealability. In my case, sometimes I conceal in dress suits, which can be paper thin and print easy. In those cases the 43x would be a good option. In dress suits I almost always carry a sub compact of some kind. But thats just me.
I handled both the other day and was impressed with both. I would council shooting them first because how a gun shoots is individual to each hand. With the introduction of them at the same time we have purchasing options. Just try it before you buy it.

The guns are identical sizes other than the barrel and slide length. The slide length has never been a issue for me to conceal but it sounds like it is for some. I just need to get my hands on each.

The super small grip and low capacity is what I didn't like about the 43...43x solves that for me. I never desired a longer barrel on my 43.

I got to shoot both a 48 & 43X yesterday along with a 43 that my shooting buddies brought to the range. After putting a 50 rounds through each model, I will be going with a 48 in the future. I shot the 48 much better than either the 43X or 43. We also noted that both the 48 and 43X had less felt recoil / snap than the 43. The slightly longer grip apparently makes a bit of a difference. YMMV.

I would take the 43x, I appendix carry so to me the smaller barrel makes more sense.

That's why I choose the G26 and run a G19 mag with a grip adapter. Appendix the G19 barrel digs into my leg when I sit in the car, the G26 barrel does not. Same would hold true for the 43X, so I would choose it over the G48.

The harder question would be why anyone would pick the 19x over the G45....

19x and 45 are same demisnions though. I’ve had both. I had to sell the X when I lost my job but got the 45 now. I like the front serrations better but I like the color better of the X. So I got a 19 and bought a 19x slide for it

Got to shoot one of those G43x's today. I don't care for the silver slide, but I really hate the Gen 5 shiny black crap too...so. I can live with it. This is what the G43 should have been from the start. It was crazy accurate. More accurate than my Shield or Shield 2.0. It feels better than a Shield, but the Shield 2.0 texture is far better. This gun will need grip tape or a stipple job. The trigger is 6lbs, but feels like 8. The Shield 2.0 trigger is far better...far better. This is a compelling gun. I think I'll get one and play with it in IDPA this year. That trigger is going to have to break in though.

Edited to add that the owner installed the Ghost Edge connector.

The 43X just felt better in my hands. More balanced. If I'm going to carry it, hold it and fire it, it ought to be comfortable.

I was surprised at the accuracy. Ran about 250 rounds through it last week. No malfunctions and stayed near the center of the target at 7 yards.

I got to put my hands on both and was really surprised how well both balanced in my hand. I really expected one not to balance very well. I am going to get the 48 though because it felt a bit better in my hands. My eyes liked the longer sight radius also.

I bought a G19 a couple years ago that had a heavy trigger like that. My G43 bought two years ago was 5lb out of the box as was the G48 I bought this week.

Nice. I see denim in the background. Are you wearing pants?
Yeah, unfortunately. Although I am in Austin so they would probably be cool if I decided to go pants less.

Well, I bought a 48 today, feels good, not too crazy about the slide color but that's what cerakote is for, lol. I chose it over the 43x because I already have a 43 with +2's, and I usually appendix carry a RMR'd 19, and I really like the size of the 19, but sometimes would like a little thinner gun, but the same size as my 19. Problem solved. If I need to go deep concealment, I have a G-42, or a Ruger lcpII to choose from, but that rarely happens. I'll be taking it to PHA tomorrow to see how she does.
I guess all this is to say, I'm a Glock-aholic. 17, 19's, 42, 43, 48, 30s, and looking to add a 29, and I'll be done........for this year, haha.

Well...a friend did point out that the Shadow 2 trigger spoiled me rotten. He's right.

I remember that trigger. Pretty impressive.
It's pretty disconcerting how much I lost in my trigger finger and thumb from the neck injury and pinched nerve. The Shadow 2 fixes most of that, but those Glocks are so easy to work on and maintain. I will say that the M&P 2.0 full size and compact has won my favor over those full size Glocks. Their triggers just work better for me now. But I'm still drawn to the new little Glocks. In fact, I have now bought 2 43x's. I'm going to dress one up for IDPA and see how she does in a competition. Gonna put in
-Night Fission sights
-Ghost Edge connector
-Reduced power plunger spring.
-Overwatch Precision Falx Trigger.
-25 cent polish job.
-Maybe some grip tape.
I'm hoping for a 4 1/2 lbs trigger when all os said and done. I'll let you know how it turns out when I get everything in and put on.

My solution re: suits would be simple. Off the rack, standard cut, +1 size.

I took my 48 out to PHA today myself, and agree, this thing is very good. I like it a good bit more than my 43. I ran 100 rounds of my reloads, 124 truncated cone from RMR, and 50 rounds of Wolf military classic 115's, without a hiccup. Went out to 15 yards and was banging those little steel triangles at PHA like it was a Xylophone, lol. Could hit them at 25 with a slow, controlled squeeze.
Taking it out again maybe Sunday and beating on it some more. Anyone near Concord Mills Mall that wants to try it out, you're more than welcome to. Just hit me up.

When you go Sunday put your 43 upper on the 48 lower. Sweet.....try it!
Yeah, we put a G43 upper on my G48 lower and made a G43X. At least, I think that's what we did. We didn't shoot it in that configuration but that will change soon.

@Stick Man I was at PHA also yesterday.

I shot a mixed bag of Winchester white box, PMC hollow points, and Federal Aluminum case stuff. Not a single hiccup I even tried limp wristing.
I didn’t have enough HST’s to shoot but I do not expect an issue with them.

Went back out to PHA today, and ran another 100 rounds of Wolf Steel through the 48. I'm really liking this little gun. Did have some problems out of my AR pistol though. Believe I have a gas problem. It would fire one round, but not eject the spent case. I'll pull it all apart tomorrow and check to see if the gas block possibly moved.

Several of us ran a bunch of rounds through my G48 yesterday. I even put my G43 upper on the G48 lower and it ran perfectly. Everyone that shot the G48 had favorable things to say about it. Most thought it had a much softer recoil than a G43 or a G19. And the trigger is very good for a striker fired gun right out of the box. And, I still don't like the forward serrations.

Do you reload for that one? What caliber is it? Is brass readily available? What size primers do you use?

It's a .000044 Mag.

Brass is difficult to find. However, because of the extreme recoil, only two or three shots is enough for most people. So, ammo last for quite a bit.

I do reload the brass with 1/4 grain of Titegroup over a 2 grain hollow point. It uses SuperSuperSmall pistol primers.
