Why is it so hard to find a plain 20 inch AR?

People are buying but they tend not to buy from folks who don't take the time to post pictures/price normally. Face the fact you will either need to build or pay the going rate.

This. Humans, especially the male of the species, are visual creatures & like to see pictures. I don't care if yer selling Chesty Puller's own 1911, Im'a keep on scrollin'. Same with prices- no price listed = no inquiry. Sucks that yer having a hard time selling, but it's a buyer's market right now, in case you hadn't noticed. You need to up your selling game & realize that if no one's buying at your prices, your prices are too high.

If yer so hell-bent on "light weight" & iron sights, get a 16" flat top with a set of BUIS. Then, if you do put a scope on it, you can mount it correctly for proper cheek weld. Plus, and I'm guessing you don't know this, the A1 type rear sight is adjustable for windage only. The newer A2 type are also elevation adjustable & cuts out a lot of the monkeying around, trying to raise & lower the front sight post.

It says to ask me for pictures. The thread would be flooded otherwise and the alternative is an Imgur album which i’ve tried in the past and people still asked if I had pictures, not more of them, any pictures because they didn’t bother. When I put values all I got were tons of emails saying either “That’s a great deal! I’m not interested/don’t have any money/anything you want though” or “I saw your ad. That price is retarded, you make me laugh” for the same firearm. Why bother to email me? Same with the ton of people who email me to say “I have what your looking for, it’s not for sale though”. Fine, i’ll put prices on it again and see how long until the Bubba lurkers start PMing me again.

That is a fine-looking rifle, and looks like the first non M16A3 I was issued, my first M4.
A3? You were in the Navy? I hate it, used to have a bunch of M4-style factory parts. I don’t like carbines in general, I don’t like most of it but it’s what I have.

Yes, I was a corpsman for 12 years, then got my commission. After fam fire with the M16A3 hand-me-down, my first carbine looked just like that. We used duct tape to tape Maglights, and had no RDS or optics. Those guns were ancient, but I loved my first M4. We didn't have them for too long before we got the M4A3; even then we used the handles/sights before we ever got optics, and we still had to use duct tape for lights.

the state of NC and Federal Firearms Law recognizes it as a pistol, it's legal concealable as a pistol. You think the deletion of a buffer tube makes a difference? Same length on the barrel.

Keep posting gems of insight. I am mounting all of my optics higher for efficiency asap.

Just tell us the truth, Eugene Stoner stole your plans for the AR15 didn't he?

Unless it’s a machine pistol, it shouldn’t be considered one if it has any kind of stock. That’s an obvious SBR.

You should write the ATF and propose a rule change. Make sure you give them your credentials.

So did it come from the factory like that? Or did someone perhaps saw bits off or cut it down?

No wonder you can't find a damn rifle, you're one of the most pedantic buggers I've ever met on this forum. Or any other gun forum.

Someone made it

And since obrez is a colloquial term rather than a manufacturer's specific model do you perhaps think that the cut down/sawn off Mosin you posted might in fact fall under the aforementioned colloquialism?

I like the way you Englishters talk.;)

How so? Every PSA rifle i’ve ever seen was the cheapest crap every manufacturer makes. The fanciest schmanciest “competition” ARs, and generic flattop carbine base gun.
I’m assuming he was implying DPMS was worse than that.
I’d be inclined to agree with him.

Look man I will be blunt with you. You are picky as all hell. Now I am not a patient man. So annoying me isn't that hard, and I realize that. But several people here are far more kind than I and seem to be getting tired as well. So let me break it down for you in simple terms.

The exact thing you want is not all that common anymore. Sorry but it isnt.
After the 94 ban expired in 2004 the value of those rifles dropped for a time cause pre ban didn't matter. Except for in ban states.

Over time, largely after Obama was first elected and again after Sandy hook. A good chunk of those Pre ban rifles in general moved to ban states that still allowed pre ban guns. Mostly cause the prices were still high there, and the panic was everywhere anyway.

Add in time wear tear, deaths and confiscation all that means that they just are not as available as you think they are.

So that answers your primary question. It is up to you to believe it or not. But those are the simple facts.

Now to the heart of the matter at hand.

Basic economics is supply and demand. Supply is very high right now and demand for most things is down. Way down. That means this is mostly a buyers market. What you don't seem to understand is that on a macro level the buyers are calling the shots. The days of panic buying are over.

No pictures, prices, caliber listings or other such things translates to your stuff being bypassed.

Take for instance one of those 229s you have. They make it in 3 calibers. Both forged and stamped slides, various trigger kits, 4 different sight options, two or 3 barrel options and several finish options as well. Plus 2 different possible countries of origin. All told there are possibly 50 different combinations possible for that one gun. Let alone current condition if it has a box or mags, or any of that.

So I can play guessing games or email tag with you before I even figure out it is something I want. Or I go to armslist and look at the 100s who have that information for me without asking.

You are free to post or not post whatever you want. You are free to desire very exact configurations of items as well. But when you ask questions like "why isn't my stuff selling?" And "why can't I find this very specific thing that hasn't been made in decades" and when people give you the answers. The proper response is to thank them, clarify, or remain silent. Not complain that their answers or advice isn't what you want to hear. That comes off as petulant, and coming off like that isnt exactly going to help your ads, nor inspire people to help find what you want. Case in point i know where three such rifles that you desire are for sale, but I have no desire to vouch for you in any way to set up the purchase though, comes down to more headache than it is worth. Most of these guys here probably have decades on you as far as knowledge and experience. Might want to listen in the future.
