Has anybody looked into this or pre-ordered one?

A good friend has the WE-120 Pro Pack with some extra stones (50 grit up to ceramics and leather strops). I have done several of my EDC knives with it. It does put an amazingly sharp and highly polished edge on a knife if you progress through all the grits, BUT is very expensive (~$900 w/hard case and all the stones).

The WE-GO with the 200/600 stones would do more of a working toothy edge, which is very practical and functional.

I'm considering pre-ordering a GO and adding either the 50/80 grit or the 100/200 grit stones to use for reprofiling a blade. You can reprofile with a 200grit stone, but it can take a VERY long time:

Arrrrggghhhhh - don't you be an enabler! However, I'll be happy to come by and use yours if you buy on :)

I have watched sooo many WE videos, and come to the conclusion they are AWESOME.

I caved and pre-ordered one and added the 50/80 grit stones. I'll even bring it to Woody's or your house for you to use! :p

They estimated shipping in late Nov which I interpreted as "maybe before Xmas"

Once you use one you will question: "why you would sharpen any other way? " it's that good.

Enabler?Who me? No, never.......BTW the 2016 WE-120 is on sale for $300 on Amazon. :D

Looks neat. Not sure I could swing that price though.

Agreed, the WE-120 does have a pretty high price tag. I just could not justify it either, until I used one to reprofile then mirror polish the bevels on my three Benchmades and one of my LT Wright Patriots. None of those knives have ever been as sharp as they are now, and LT's come pretty dang sharp!IMG_1095.JPG

Now my Spyderco Sharpmaker and DMT diamond stones look so antiquated and inferior.

The WE-GO is really more for maintaining field and kitchen knives versus the WE-120 and it's price reflects it. $150 for a tool that will do that exceptionally well for decades I feel is pretty reasonable (at least that's how I justified it!). ;)

Put that way, it makes a lot of sense.

I swear we all have our weaknesses... mine is sharpening a blade. I can dull one up like a BOSS, but I cannot sharpen one to cut hot butter. I ain't used to being able to master a task... but I have to admit I could sharpen a pound of wet liver before I could sharpen a knife.

I got more knife sharpening tools and gimmicks and stones to start a shop; but I just have to find someone to sharpen all of mine, cause I am running out of sharp ones and the dull ones go in the drawer.

I can't free hand sharpen either and I am mediocre with the Spyderco Sharpmaker. The WE is pretty easy to use, and very hard to F*ck up the actual sharpening. Now setting up the knife and angles can be a touch tedious, but the actual sharpening is super simple. If I can sharpen on a WE, there may be hope for you yet! (maybe).

I wouldn't bet lunch on it brotha, I just don't have it.

I'll be bringing a pile of knives over Bunsen.

Sure. I've already sharpened just about every knife I own at this point (20+). It's kind of addicting and somehow I find it oddly therapeutic.

I put a 13 degree (26 degree inclusive) edge on a chef's knife just for S&G's....holy crap is it scary sharp!!

I think @VA_GENTLEMAN has a drawer full of knives he needs touched up.

@Bunsen I have a ton of knives I need touched up. It's so bad, that for Youth Hunting Day and Special Bear Season in the next 6 days, I am taking out my new Ka-Bar cause I know it has a good edge.

Good Grief, I suck!

If you want to ship some to me, I'll be happy to sharpen them and ship back to you. I fully sympathize with your plight. No Man should have to go through life with dull knife edges.

That's pretty cool... So you starting a sharpening business? I may have a few blades that could use some attention...

No, not at this time., maybe someday in the future. I've known VA_Gentleman since 2011 and the Conover TSC matches. I was just offering to help him out with his current sharpening dilemma.

You're probably close enough that whenever I get together with NKD and BurnedoutGeek you could join us though. Aren't you a member at Woody's also?

This looks like a two handed version of the Lansky system with a few more bells and whistles. I can screw up any knife, but with a Lansky, I do a pretty good job. Add a leather strop to this kit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001...rds=lansky&dpPl=1&dpID=51DsD-bvBdL&ref=plSrch
And your goid to go.

Lansky's are very functional, and can produce a good edge. I used one for several years on hunting and kitchen knives.

However, I would classify the WE-120 as a quantum leap ahead of the Lansky in price, ability to precisely re-profile an edge or bevel, and overall quality of edge produced.

The WE-Go should be somewhere in between the two both for cost and performance.

No worries. Just messin' really. I'm not a member there, but I shoot with Dave and Wyatt some...

I'm actually in SE Raleigh not far from ya, but that's neither here nor there...

I pre-ordered the WE Go. Hopefully it will be here in the next couple of weeks. Can't wait to get a hold of it and try it out.

Excellent! Please report back how you like it. I'm absolutely loving my WE-120 and recently picked up the 800/1000, 1500/ glass for lapping films set. Wow, can the 1500 and 6um films polish up an edge super quick!
