I needs one. The camper isn't close enough for the house wifi to make it. I bought a cheap one to see if that would work and I cannot get the bugger to work. Got it extending the network but it refuses all passwords either from the gadget, my actual wifi password or the BS password it had on it. I'm about ready to shoot the thing.

I despise networking rubbish, I've never had one device that wasn't a huge pain. Any suggestions for a plug and play wifi extender so I can have my cat pictures and porn?

Do you have electricity that runs from house to camper?

Yeah but it's just a drop cord, I have led low power lights and don't run much.
Ok. I was going to suggest a powerline adapter. I had one and ended up rearranging some Ethernet cables so that I didn’t need it. @LeeMajors has one in his shop and says it works great.

Not sure they’d work over a drop cord or not.

A drop cord through a plug style convertor no less. It's close enough to drop a cat5 but that means routing it under the house and I may just give up internet rather than do that lol

If you have a drop cord run, just zip tie an Ethernet cable to it and plug it into a router. :D

Drop cord is from an exterior socket. Wifi is smack in the middle of the house with no nearby exit. I'd have to drop it through the floor, under the house then into the camper.

It actually does work well through a drop cord I used it in the gf dad shop this past weekend.

The (reciever) just has to be plugged in the same leg on the power as the transmitter

Will a mesh device work? Depending.on distance from house to camper, it might. Look up mesh for wifi.

Looks neat. Don't know if I want to replace the current router, I just want to add a bubble at one of the house so I can connect too.

My drop cord is plugged in on the deck, wifi router is inside and not really accessible from there. Nice idea though.

I think it just has to be on the same phase? So you have a 50/50 chance it’s on the right one. Plug one in near the existing router and connect via Ethernet. Then plug the other one in inside the camper and it transmits wirelessly.

Could always try and return if it didn’t work out.

I managed to still my murderous rage, walked away for a minute or three and came back to it. After realizing the instructions were pure Chinesium grade I did what made sense to me and it seems to be working. It's not blistering fast but it'll do pig.

Thanks for all the suggestions. If anyone can recommend a good wifi extender rather than this $13 one that will be an upgrade for the relatively near future.

Amazingly this thing isn't absolutely awful, actually not bad considering it cost less than a meal at most chain restaurants.

I have a Netgear Powerline Extender setup at my house. It is a power line system and works very well. I wonder if you could plug a power strip into your camper drop cord and then plug in a Netgear Extender adapter into the strip?

I would think the signal would still run from the house to the camper through the drop cord. But I'm no expert.

Not a bad idea. The cheap POS let's me watch Netflix so I can take my time and figure it out

Depends on what you have for a main wifi hub.
My Spectrum wifi hub blocks internet access to wifi extenders. But I simply hooked up my linksys AC1900 to the hub and then connected my Netgear wifi extender to that.
Set up is pretty simple.

I got a cheap $15 one that seems to work just fine.
Wife was complaining she couldn't use her iphone in bed on the other side of the house. I plugged this guy in and hit the synch button on the router and the extender - worked immediately. We can also arm/disarm the alarm via phone apps hitting the wifi from out in the driveway now too. That's nice, because we have about 15 minutes of very hit-or-miss cell signal on the way home and we rarely get enough data to load the app and disarm via cell signal.

Netgear network extender. I have a used one I can just give you. Send me your address and I will stick it in the mail

The Powerline extenders are "better" in that they use your electrical line as a substitute for a cat 5/6 network cable. Turns your entire household grid into a network. Most people can use a wifi extender, though. If you don't have me blocked, the offer above is valid (it is, even if you do, if someone will just copy this and send it to him).
