I have a model Winchester 1400 MK II in 12 gauge and the other day while dove hunting the safety jammed in the fire position. I know they haven't made them in nearly 40 years, they were inexpensive (cheap?), but they were the first "real" shotguns my friends and I could afford to buy. Lots of grass cutting, paper routes, and working in the tobacco fields. So we all have a nostalgic relationship with those particular shotguns. Now that we are older we have acquired other shotguns of various makes and models but the 1400 is a part of our childhood memories.
I've looked at a few youtube videos describing how to disassemble the trigger assembly but it looks a bit daunting. It seems to me that a component no bigger that the palm of your hand breaks down into a what appears to be a 5 gallon bucket of parts!
Anyone ever take one of these completely apart and most importantly put it back together again and have it actually work?
