Was at Walmart getting new wiper blades an d stepped over to Ammo case and to my surprise they had some ammo. Fed 22 for $20+ for 330 rounds . But They had this retro looking box of Winchester Super X 22 LR hp ammo with 300 rounds
I asked the clerk about the price and she looked and said $40.18 per box . Seriously? That's over 13¢ a round. Would anyone really pay that kind of price . I didn't!!!!!!
 
Damn good ammo, I would have taken it.
 
I can’t understand why the yellow box is supposed to be worth $20! I can take the $20 box of 333
And paint it yellow for much less?!?!
 
I first saw those boxes at the WM in Kernersville maybe 6 months ago. Far as I can tell, those same boxes are still there.
 
At my store we've moved a couple cases of that yellow crap despite my best efforts to inform customers if it being overpriced with subpar qc.

There was some 12 gauge bird shot in the same yellow box style for a while that was $25 a box and I've seen 20 round boxes of a rifle caliber (the exact caliber escapes me) for nearly $45 at other big box stores. I can't speak for the quality of the a bird shot or rifle ammo but reports I've gotten from customers is that the 22lr was garbage.

The only good thing about it is the yellow box is limited edition so they'll stop making it eventually.
 
Stopped to pick up a VD card yesterday and noticed our store still has plenty of that ammo. While looking at it I wondered whether that price will soon seem like a bargain. 🥺
