Chicken dinner. Finally scored a rifle I've lusted after for years. Traded into the SA SOCOM in the Troy Chasis here on the forum. Picked it up Sunday and haven't got a chance to shoot it yet. Left work 1.5 hours early yesterday to head to the indoor range 30 minutes out of the way and they said "no 308". Dang it, should have called ahead. My local range is closed at least another week for "Shot/lead reclamation". Don't get me started... Anyway, would love to hear from other M1a1 owners. It's my first 308. I bought a couple of mags, some basic flip up back up sights, 200 rounds of linked Radway Green (have to de link), and a couple of boxes of steel case 308 to try. Itching to try it out. May have to buy a press to feed it...

I own a full size M1A, Loaded. If I'm ever forced to sell everything I own, it'll be the last thing to leave my house. It is without a doubt the best shooting, most accurate, most reliable firearm I've ever handled.

Well, between the IDPA match and BUG gun match, I was able to get it sighted in @25 yards and run @40 rounds through it. All steel case. All ran great. Looking forward to hopefully getting a few more rounds through it tomorrow (maybe out to 50 or 100 yards). If I can't get the distance, I'll probably stick with the 22 and centerfire handguns. May try to sight in the 7.62 x 39 AR. I'll keep you posted.

My buddy took his SA m1a to bangsteel... had no issues whatsoever putting accurate shots on steel out to 1200 yards all day long with hornday match 168 grain. The rest of us had "precision" bolt guns, he had no problems keeping up!
