02D3372C-24A2-459D-9B4F-CF0FA0FFE3EF.png This is very early, but I was searching for a close-to-me gun show for next weekend. Another 6 Shooter show. I was really hoping for a close-to-me gun show that Cubrock might be setting up at next weekend. I went to this guy’s Salisbury Show. It was a pretty good show. Anyone thinking about going to this one?

How have their shows been in the past?
I'll be out of town, so I cant make this one, unfortunately.

I was at their first show, which was in Salisbury in September. He advertised well and it was well attended. Had about 110 tables, of which almost 100 were guns, gun related, or knives. I haven't been able to make any of his other shows due to schedule conflicts.

I won't be at this one. Taking the weekend off to do family stuff. Please give us a report, @edwardyoung .

Haven't heard of them before. If you go, tell us how it looks.
I always need another excuse to go spend money. ;-)
C&E will be back in W-S on Dec 14-15, at the fairgrounds.

The promoter is the owner of Broken Clays Pawn in Asheboro. He has been on both sides of the gun show table and is doing his best to do his shows right. I think he has great potential for success.

Oh well, Steve. I was just hoping to be able see you there. If the FedEx truck arrives on schedule, I’ll try to see you Thursday morning, if you’ll be around. Thanks

Call me before you come. I'll likely be out Thursday morning, but will be back in the afternoon. We'll see how it goes.

I don’t like that guy, he’s always making me spend money on awesome deals... usually the cheapest gun seller at the C&E shows...

I was there. Decent little mostly-gun show. Definitely worth $5. Almost sold my TRP. That would have made it the best show ever. Bought some ammo and some peanuts. Good way to spend an hour

There was a S&W 1917 Brazilian 45ACP revolver. It had been buffed to death and reblued. For $399, I would have loved to have it. Oh well. I didn’t sell anything, so I couldn’t buy anything

Edited to add - see posts below for clarification. My apologies to the Fire Marshal.

The Winston-Salem Fire Marshal is not a friend of powder and primer dealers.

Found a nickel 442 at what appears to be a fair price.

I was there earlier with SO... it wasn’t as big as I hoped. I didn’t really need anything, just wanted to see how it compared to C&E.

    LOL. What are the odds?

I presume you are not the one that ran the powder and primer dealers out of the Winston gun show at the fairgrounds years ago, then? Or, is the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds the County's responsibility and not the city's?

I wondered about that, on their "Rules" page it says "2. Public do not bring these items to the show. No BLACK POWDER, PARADOX POWDER, or RELOADING POWDER ALLOWED." It's not real clear to me if it means the "public" can't bring in those items (not sure why they would anyway), or if it's not allowed in the building at all, including on dealers/sellers tables.

That's the main reason I was thinking of checking it out.

I (we) didn't run out any dealers. The assistant fire marshal over that area applied the code. It doesn't totally prohibit those items. It limits the amount you can have inside the building. I know it's a pain but they can maintain their stock outside and have enough on display to show customers what they have. I totally get the frustrations and I do happen to re-load. I don't like it any more than they do. We make people unhappy on a daily basis while trying to prevent fires and injuries. The fire code basically exists because of bad things that have actually happened.

I'll have the assistant fire marshal over that part of town take a look at their rules. To my knowledge we never totally prohibited it. The promoter may have to ban it because of insurance or something of the like - or they just do it for all shows to be consistent. I know the Greensboro show usually has a LOT of powder and primers

Please accept my apologies. When the change happened, it wasn't presented to us in that exact way by the promoter. We went from having lots of powder selection to none almost overnight and the blame was placed on you all.

Of the shows I do regularly, we see these restrictions only at Winston, Hickory, and Fayetteville. Is the code locally driven or the same state-wide? If it was state-wide, I would think that we would have no powder at the Raleigh show, but only black powder is restricted there.

Thank you for clearing that up. :)

No apologies necessary! It didn't bother me - I just thought it was ironic that I'm a member here. The code is supposed to be applied by law from Manteo to Murphy. Interpretation and enforcement varies. Most shows occur only on weekends and most fire prevention inspectors work Mon-Fri

Definitely ironic. LOL Thanks for clearing this up. It looks like the promoters were laying all of the blame on you instead of explaining the situation. And, the vendors probably didn't want to go to the trouble of having a display and keep having to go outside to hand over the goods to the buyers. Makes sense now.

Most reloading vendors I know don't have the manpower to be able to send someone outside every time there is a purchase of primers or powder. And a lot of the customers don't want to do it, either. Having to go outside to get the product often kills the sale.

We usually see inspectors on Friday afternoon. They walk through and measure aisle widths and check that exits aren't blocked. In Hickory, Fayetteville, and Winston, they also look for powder and primers. I have seen them there out of uniform on Saturday mornings in Hickory and Fayetteville checking things again, but that doesn't happen every show.
